Have you accounted for the extra height counters in the design? It will affect quite a few things. Edited to add: I went back and looked at your previous post on your kitchen and saw that you are using a range. That laminated double 3 cm counter won't work with a range unless the cabinets themselves are a custom height built shorter so that the range doesn't end up "underneath" the counters (fire hazard!). I'm assuming that the baking area in front of the window (which I previously assumed would be a cooktop) will be a lowered counter? Am I seeing that correctly? That would work with a built up edge there, but it will also raise the height. The edge detail you pictured is only on the island in your inspiration. It's very busy visually, and adding on all of the scallops around the bumpout adds to the visual busyness. You already have the bumpout, the feet, the cabinet detail on the side panels , the window at the baking area, and all of those windows of the VIEW which is the main focal point of the home. What does your door style look like? It is also SHOUTING for attention? Minimizing the focal points in a kitchen is one way to keep them as focal points. When everything starts to vie for your attention, you don't notice any of the special features and it becomes just a visual blur of too many details. What 3 things do you want to be the star of your kitchen? The eye can't really support more centers of attention than that. Everything else should be subtle supporters that strengthen the role of the attention getters. Personally, I'd eliminate that bumpout and go with a simpler edge for the whole kitchen. The bumpout is a inauthentic detail that doesn't work with the rest of the space. Now, if the sink was there, it would be an authentic detail and there would be a logical reason for it to be bumped out. Or, if that section ONLY was in marble for baking and lowered, and the rest of the counters were another material, that would be an authentic detail and a reason for the bumpout. With your layout, it competes with the view and the range area, and doesn't do it successfully because it's "off". This post was edited by hollysprings on Mon, May 27, 13 at 10:45

They can "fix" it on site, if you want them to, but they'll probably require you to sign a waiver about the countertop potentially cracking there. The reason you have slight "radiused" corners is because that's stronger than a square corner. Square corners create more stressors for the stone slab, and they can lead to cracks down the road. This is why you have a slight radius to all corners, whether inside or outside. It's stronger, and it protects your investment better. Now, they should have explained this to you on the front end and let you choose whether or not you wanted to proceed with a "square" (with signed waiver) or "round" corner, but that's the reason you have something that looks "wrong" to your eye. If they had explained this to you from the beginning, you would have known what to expect and that this wasn't an "error".

I was the OP on the thread referenced above by writersblock, which was specifically about the Ticor SS6508 (I think) zero radius single-bowl sink that has a beveled edge at the top, allowing use of included cutting board and wire basket. I believe that top edge is different that the sink you have, which has the more usual flat top flange. In the end, we returned the SS6508 and got the S112, which has the same kind of edge as the sink you have, I think. I wanted a neutral or very slightly positive reveal and got a lot of pushback from the fabricator, who said, oh no everybody gets a negative reveal and if it's positive you'll see the caulk and then you'll be back complaining. I stuck to my guns and the sink was installed last week (I've posted the picture in several threads recently so I won't put it in here). The reveal is very slightly positive, 1/16 to 1/8" of sink edge showing and I like the way it looks. We can see the caulk but it doesn't look bad and, as someone pointed out when I was worrying about that, the caulk can be removed and reapplied with no ill effect. We've only been using the sink for a few days so I can't say what the longterm result will be but so far so good. I hope that helps. A 1" radius isn't much. On inside radii, they are probably limited by the size of their CNC tooling. Anything smaller has to be done by hand, and that gets expensive quickly.
