Like the last poster said make sure the opening is the proper width to fit a pre hung unit. Like he said prehung units that big are a lot easier to move with the doors removed. Mdf Doors wiegh a ton and 2 of them in the frame would be impossible to move. A frame can be jockeyed around a tight stairwell. There is another route if the openings are a non standard size, bypass doors. All the closets in the bedrooms have them and I just ordered door blanks and installed them on new hardware. I recomend Johnson hardware for bypass doors. It's cheaper to order from the company than have a big box order it in. Here is a link that might be useful: johnson hardware

You need to investigate the DP (Design Pressure) ratings of whichever door you choose as you have a high profile location. Without knowing specifics, I would recommend a minimum DP 40 unless you can handle some water infiltration (i.e. an interior hard surface such as tile or rock). A high DP rating and bi fold doors do not normally co-exist. Good luck!

How much do you need to bump it out in order to clear your dryer? Maybe bi-fold door can be replaced with a barn door which has an overhead track if there is enough wall space on the side/s for the doors to slide. Even if there is room on one side you can get a wide enough barn door made to open to one size. Something like this if it can be done. If not maybe you can bump the opening out just enough for the track and trim it out to hide everything (depending on how much you need to come out and the surrounding area around your laundry room location)... But when you installing bi-fold doors most likely you will need to put at least one screw into the floor to secure the bracket. You can try and see if you can get away by screwing just into the jamb (you usually have 3 screws there)

Actually it would open inward flush with shelving in the closet, so it won't cut into closet space. My main concern is losing space in the bedroom when it is open!

Shabby, I love the doors, the color of the doors and the paint color on the wall. The area is now neat and you did a wonderful job with such a quick decision. I wish I was more like you in making decisions regarding decorating.

I have been thinking about putting up some doors or something for awhile but the only reason I got around to doing it is DH is off work with a major illness, I have taken off work too and in order to try not to breakdown I decided to keep busy.

The doors were easy-moderate to install. If you are handy I would say fairly easy. You do need a drill and some tools and lots of patience to interpret instructions that are not clear. The most difficult part is actually installing the track on top and bottom. The doors come hinged and you just
insert some brackets. There were many pieces that I didn't use (weren't necessary and they didn't really say what they were for.) You do need two people to actually hang them because they are quite bulky but not terribly heavy. We did need to do some adjustments once they were up (which entailed taking one door down again.) My big concern was that they were to fit a 72" space and my space was 71.5 inches, it was not a problem.

The surprising thing was what nice quality they are once they are up and painted (thank you again whoever recommended cabinet coat paint, it's excellent). They came primed, I gave them two coats and bought new hardware.
