Please let me say a big thank you for your inspiration to repaint my living/dining/foyer in 'decatur buff'. I viewed your gorgeous bedroom photos, along with photos from 'peytonroad', 'eagertopaint', and 'dawn t', many times before making the decision to use 'decatur buff' after the disaster of painting these areas with BM's 'honeymoon', which did not work well with our lighting.

You and I have also used the same Schumacher wallpaper which you pointed out in a complimentary comment about our kitchen remodel.

And....in viewing the photos of your beautiful home, I saw another common fabric on your wing chairs....red background with a fruit design next to some red and gold lamps that we also have in our home (you'll see in my photos).

And lastly, my very first boyfriend's name was Riley....although your doggie is a female. My Riley turned out to be in touch with his feminine side also, a pretty safe boyfriend for a high-schooler in the sixties!

A few days ago, you asked for a pic of our BM 'greenfield pumpkin', a color which 'peytonroad' recommended, so I'll post it here....

Anyway, please know how much I admire you and your taste and, sincerely, I could not have painted our home without so much wonderful inspiration from you and others on this board.

Begoniagirl, I think I've become your biggest fan and groupie. lol.

I clicked on your picture and was able to see some of your house, sure would like to see more!

Since I'm trying to learn the various styles of decorating, is your decorating considered to be "Traditional?"

Did you do ALL the needlepoint in your home?

Sorry that I didn't get back to this thread...I've been very busy selling! I sold so much, I wore myself out. The WS tomatoes turned out to be a huge hit...I could have sold many more. I never adverstised, just put a big sign out that said tomato plants. The maters looked so healthy and nice...and they got so many for their $6 bucks, I even had a guy buy 3!! Kek19...you asked about selling seedlings. I think I mentioned above that I did sell two baptesia that were just seedlings, but the ones who purchased seemed very plant savvy and they seemed happy to "raise the baby". Most people probably aren't interested in something like that. Since I won't need more Baptesia myself, I plan to pot up my seedlings (they are in sytrofoam coffee cups now) and sell them next year when they've filled in a bit and have survived a winter here in WI. Pretty much anything that I grow this year from seed, I won't sell until next year now. I really didn't do annuals, just perennial plants from my garden plus the Wintersown tomatoes.

Air conditioner? I don't have one, and wouldn't use it if I did. I don't put mine in the freezer, because my freezer would not hold all the tomatoes I put by in one summer. We use a tremendous amount of canned tomatoes in addition to the large amount we eat fresh and I can mine right off the vine. Therefore, I can them right from the picking. We are also prone to power outages from an antiquated route left over from the original rural electrification. This has resulted in food loss more than once, and now the freezer is used primarily for short term storage, and preservation of staples like flours/rice/pastas especially to deter things like pantry moth. I can most of my bounty in summer for just that reason, including meats when I come by them cheaply or butcher out chickens. Having a pantry full of canned goods is very convenient, because basically they are already cooked. It is energy efficient to cook up meats in broth fourteen quarts at a time under pressure than crank up the stove and cook one quart of them at a time when you are wanting to make a meal. I do not judge people who do freeze them, but I'm just saying what and how you do it is impacted by how many you need. Several hundred quarts of tomato products are not an option for me to freeze. I do most of my canning at night with the windows open, and oftentimes it's at season's end when the nights really are cool and the warmth isn't an issue. In fact canning gives off just enough warmth I don't kick on the heat.

Well, Alisande, during a flu outbreak, every one should wash their hands multiple times a day. But I do not think this administration engineered a swine flu outbreak to push a health care bill, as has been suggested. Nor do I believe this was some sort of terrorist attack. That was suggested up-thread. The Center for Disease Control (CDC), and the World Health Organization (WHO) have been totally transparent in their tracking of this disease. Case zero has been discovered - we know where it came from. It was a child living near a pork factory in Mexico. He got ill and recovered, but not before passing the virus on to others. No conspiracy.

The trash house is half a mile away and you are disturbed by the view? Do you use goggles or a telescope? If it bothers you so much, why don't you talk to the people? I am in a similar situation but reversed. I bought a run-down house with overgrown yard last fall and I didn't have time yet to clean up the yard because all my time was spent fixing the inside, which is more important to me than the view of my neighbors. Also, during this time, I accumulated an old air conditioner, coil, stove, countless cardboard boxes, old kitchen counters etc. in my side yard (behind a gate, so not visible from the street, but visible from my neighbors second floor). It'll be disposed off sometimes this year but I am not going to rent a dumpster more than once. Disposing of bulk trash can be expensive. I'd not be insulted by a neighbor asking me politely to clean up. Why don't you try asking?

Thank you for those pics of the BM Greenfield Pumpkin. I have been considering painting the trim in my kitchen that color. I have seen BM group it with WIndham Cream, which I have in the DR.Your pics show it to be the lovely rich color I envisioned it to be.

Your home is truly beautiful!

I am sad to say that my only try at growing begonias was a miserable failure. And I bought some kits to do needlepoint to give as tree ornaments this holiday season. When I got to putting the beading on, the needle that was provided in the kit was way too small to even thread through. And the eye of the other needle was too big to get through the hole in the bead. So there they sit...... sigh.

Funny that we have the same lamps. I have been thinking about changing mine out for something with a little more contrast for that room, and perhaps putting mine in the master bedroom. That's a plan down the road, when I redecorate my mantle...maybe a spring project!

Where is your fruit fabric? I'll have to go find your thread showing the Decatur Buff. I remember your thread about not liking your paint colors. I'm Glad you like it.

I love the BM Greenfield Pumpkin, and think that would be perfect in my daughters kitchen. I am going to suggest it to her and show these photos.

Well, got to go...Riley is barking to get inside. :)

Begoniagirl - your wallpaper kitchen got me to thinking about rooms I've enjoyed - wall paper! I like the idea of the emotional thread too. Nice.
