I too am EXTREMELY SENSITIVE to poison ivy and recently broke out in a similar rash after being careless while propagating my all time favorite plant, the philodendron micans. I also suspected that had to be it so I took a fresh cutting and dabbed the sap several times in my arm and didn't wash off for a few hours. Somewhere between 12 & 24 hours later, I started feeling that familiar itch and watched as my test patch gradually spread out the size of a dime and rose up with the little tiny bubble pattern I'm used to seeing with poison ivy rash. THIS SUCKS! I'm in the middle of battling it right now and in my research found this helpful article. I also read another helpful tip that said the sap from these plants can somehow penetrate through standard medical gloves so thicker gardening type gloves should be used when propagating and caution should also be taken when refreshing propagation water. I plant to purchase some thick, SOLID rubber gloves that can easily be thoroughly washed. NOT those gardening gloves that have a breathable section at the back of the hand and wrists! You should also clean the tools you use and the work area. Rubbing alcohol AT LEAST 70% grade is known to be effective for cleaning tools that have come in contact with poison ivy so I plan on implementing that. As well as never shortcutting again by taking rushed cuttings and not doing the basics like laying out a protective mat and immediately washing my hands afterwards. I lazily let my NUMEROUS cuttings drop to the floor (CARPET!) and I know I didn't wash my hands right away like I normally do. A couple hours later I laid on this floor in a tank top and got a mild rash a day later across my upper back and shoulder area as well as my ear lobes which I believe is from handling my earbuds right after propagating my favorite plant. PLEASE MAKE MY PAIN WORTH IT AND LET THIS BE A LESSON TO YOU... PUH-LEAZE!

I have electric blankets, one in the house, one in the RV. Love them, but don't often leave them on after I get in bed. I warm the bed with it first. I also have a heated throw that sounds good right about now! And, somewhere, a down comforter that I really should dig out. I like your quilt! I am color challanged. I think my graphic artist DB got all the color talent. Picking colors/designs that go together is very difficult for me. You did a great job! I have two treadle machines, one belonged to DH's grandmother, the other was my great grandmothers. I also have my great aunt's electric portable Singer. DH won't let me use it because of the antient and deteriating cord. He is an electrician and says no way! I won't have it re-wired either. I also have my aunt's electric machine, with out going to the basement, I have no idea what brand. Those are my antique machines. I also have a Kenmore that I got as a graduation gift in 1977, and a Husvarna Viking 500. And a Brother PE-150 embroidery machine. I don't sew much any more. I got burned out sewing for the kids and myself for so many years when money was sooooo tight. I don't even want to look a a machine much any more! Loved meeting you in your video! Tami

Hello all... its been awhile since I have posted anything... but saw this post and had to put my two cents in... I have all was been "old fashion" as my children would say... I enjoyed making things.. for my children, husband, family, and so on... oh and for myself and home... I love learning new things... from making homemade dumplins to quilting... I was a stay at home mom and wife until all my children went to school.. then my husband got laid off and I had to go work outside the home... worked for many years.. I no longer work outside the home.. I am a stay at home grandma now... to keep sane I craft... I started making things for my 5 month old granddaughter... simple things like pillowcase dresses, hair bows, bow holders.blankets...all kinds of baby stuff... friends started asking for me to make them some..... I don't mind but when they ask how much I am going to charge... that makes me nerves... just because I never know if I am charging enough or not enough... now my friend wants to get a booth at out local twice a year show thing... not sure how to discribe it.. anyway... I was excited cause I use to sell stuff with my dad yearsssssss ago... I loved it cause I am a people person... I would talk to everyone and most of the time they would buy something... my dad did woodcraft stuff... I would most of the time paint them items... but loved going to different events and meeting people of seeing other vendors for other events... the thing I learned in the past is to sell with pride... sell items that are useful.. sell items that you would buy... sell items that you would buy for others... they main thing is that YOU have to "SELLIT".. you cant just sit there with your arms and legs crossed wondering why no one is buying your stuff... you have to be a saleman and sellit!... Boy did I go way off the topic.. lol... I am proud that I love to craft... I think my family is too... cause they are always asking me to make stuff..which makes me proud... LOL I thought you'd kick out of that. I only looked at the thumbnails. Our two year old grandson was here today. I'll have to go look at them. One of my hubby's sister's hubby lives out in the boondocks of central Iowa, nothing wrong with Iowa. It's my Home Sweet Home state, and he has a garage/outbuilding that's his man cave, though I can't see him calling it that. It's unfinished on the inside so it's more garage and storage for his muscle car, but does have tables with his stuff on them. Nothing fancy, not messy either. Just a place to get away from the house when the guys are over to watch Nascar or football. Just a country boy at heart. The best thing that happened to my SIL. Now I'm going to take a few minutes to check out the man caves. LOL
