F&P dish drawer comment...and it's good

I have had my dd's since May '10. No problems, love them for their convenience. BUT, I am sorry to say, I don't have a photo to share with you about my experience today. So you are just going to have to use your imagination here....I made scalloped potatoes from scratch, oh yeah, yummmy (that's another story), leftovers stayed in that baking dish. Leftovers weren't so good, so last night I dumped them in the trash and I did NOT scrape the baking dish to get the burned on stuff off. I put it in the dish drawer. Woops, forgot to run it last night. Woke up this am, ran the dish drawer. Went to work.

Came home, opened it up and Voila! It is squeeky clean! I can hardly believe it.

So there you have it. I just wanted to share.

Boy, that is surprising. I am getting them but I expect to pay for the ergonomics by practically hand washing each dish first. Let's hope this is a trend!

Wow, I'm surprised. I don't usually put pans in mine. Good to know. What kind of pan was it... Maybe that matters too.

The drawers work for my family of 4, but you do start to lose the advantage of the drawers if you easily run one big load a day. They do hold a lot though, and staggering small loads might work better than doing less frequent big loads. It's much easier to get someone to unload a drawer than a full size DW. You'll get used to whatever you have I suspect. I don't know what the advantage of stainless over plastic is, really, aside from sparkle...that's the least of the differences between drawers and traditionals. I can say that F&P customer service is really nice and responsive and you talk to a real human quickly when you call them (my stupid installer threw away parts...).

For comparison, this is how my hoses are run ... well, how they were run on the installation at my previous house. I moved the unit along to a new house several years ago, don't have a current pic but it's pretty much the same way. The DD was installed on the left of the sink. The two drain hoses come through an opening at the cabinet base, loop high as possible, tied up with a wire at left rear corner anchor bolt of the sink, then down to the plumbing connection. Backflow through either hose would have to go uphill from the Y-connector, through the high loop, down to the cabinet base, then into the drawers. Highly unlikely that would happen.

The serviceman is correct. DishDrawers have always vented in the same way and same location since day 1 of their introduction in 1997. Smashing a cast-iron pan over his head will not change that fact. I have no idea why your condensation problem is suddenly happening. Not possible to diagnose that kind of situation from afar. One effective workaround is to press Power to cancel the cycle when the dry phase starts and pull the drawer fully open so the heat and moisture can freely waft upwards.

I googled and couldn't find any direct answer to your question. However, I did read that each drawer has it's own motor. I would think that a competent plumber would be able to disassemble the bottom unit and re-route the plumbing so there would be no drainage possible into the bottom.

It was a 9x13 (I know you don't care about the size, Prill, lol) ceramic type of dish.

I was very surprised too.

I wondered if it might be ceramic. They're pretty easy to wash... Ok, I'll have to try it.
