jxbrown, fwiw, I bought a bunch of those to put on my oven racks. Yes, they do work...but they were a PAIN! I could no longer slide things on/off the shelf. I found them to be impractical...jmho!!! I don't care for mitts, either. Or the silicone pad. I just like the good old-fashioned terry cloth pot holder. I bought some newer quilted ones (not terry) that won't bend easily enough to grip the pan! LOL! I'm always on the search for terry cloth potholders. Here you go, the uppers have the calander hanging on one side and emergency numbers on right door and all the office things live here. There is an outlet for charging cameras and "my" stuff. On the counter is an outlet for the land line. Antique tray is our magnet board. Top drawer has a powerstrip attached to the back for DH's electronics this is "his" drawer for keys and anything else. Bottom drawer is the coupons, and "junk" drawer as I have found it is inevitable! Basket is home for shoes. There is now a cushion on the dog kennel. Hi june, I am on about 4 acres and there are woods on most sides of the property and only one neighbor on one side that I can see and its fenced there lol. So escapee passiflora and other vines aren't a problem. In fact, there are "wild /rogue" trumpet vines, japanese honeysuckle, and carolina jessamine growing all crazy out in the woods and up various trees on the back of the property. I have a lot of gulf frits so they do keep the escaped (from pots) passies under control here too. For additional control, I grow most of my passiflora in pots and use 3 tall bamboo poles tied together at the top in the large pots. Then I use fishing line and black electrical tape to create a little trellis for them to attach their tendrils onto between the bamboo poles. Then I position the pots up against a fence or tree and let them climb that way once they grow over the bamboo poles. When it freezes, I cut them back to the length of the bamboo pole/trellis and move the pots into the gh because some of the passies I grow will freeze back badly and some are tropical so gh culture during the winter is best for those. ~SJN

Love Caryopteris - wouldn't be without it! There's nothing like the silver-tinged green foliage covered in blue blooms buzzing with pollinator activity come late summer/early fall. "Dark Knight" is my cultivar of choice -- an oldie but goodie, I like the richness of the blooms and the foliage color. A word of warning: These are late to show growth, as in May late, and they can be finicky. I've found that planting any later than mid-summer and they won't survive winter, and I've also had the experience where the plant is showing green growth in the spring and then decides to give up the ghost for no apparent reason. It needs to be trimmed down in the spring, similar to butterfly bush. I've taken to waiting until leaf growth is well underway to trim back. Depending on how harsh the winter was, it may need cutting back almost to the ground or might be able to leave a foot or two, just depends. Regardless of how harshly it was cut back, "Dark Knight" only gets 3-4" feet tall where I am. It's kind of a PITA and I do have losses sometimes, but still I wouldn't be without it and promptly buy replacements if needed. I love this shrub that much :0) Side note: Interestingly, Caryopteris never behaved tempermentally at my old house in zone 6 -- the one I planted grew in the same spot for many years and was virtually care-free save for the spring cut-back. Not sure if that's zone-related or a difference in growing conditions.
