My son received a gift of a cruise to Alaska and he's not going to go without me. I wasn't interested in going but after seeing your pics I might just start making plans.

Just hoping that I get to see most of what you experienced. These animals are amazing.

Thanks all, that is a stuffed puppy, named Little Puppy. The only real dogs I own are the kinds that are ride-able. Lucy gave me that taro from a tuber and I've had 5 more blooms,I think he likes it on my yard. They don't have seeds do they? The lotus is a Hindu,so it's supposed to be huge and pink. But still no signs of blooms and yes.. I fert the heck out of that thing

I did heat it,I don't believe it ever dropped below 14F-that was not my plan originally(keeping it that warm)but I planted the Agaves and some other cactus in Dec,so, I decided to keep it a little warmer to protect them.I had to remove the front half over the cactus in mid March as we had some early 70F weather and the temp went up to 100F in there! to much stress on them,it also may explain why the cactus are budding so early, although quite a few normally flower in June.

I remember when you posted when this happened, nice to know all was not lost......They look beautiful.........One yr (when I lived on the other side of the mountains) I had put miracle grow potting soil in the holes that I planted a couple plants. I covered @ night religiously, but it still on 3 different occasions they frosted to the ground...Notice I said it was 3 times this happened. I thought they were gone each time but they were on a soaker hose that had other plants to take care of. Next thing I knew, I'd have tiny mater plants comin' back. They did start to set, but just didn't have enough time to come ripe. (winter comes early and quickly some yrs over there) Point being, sometimes, maters act like 'the little train that could'.............Good for you........T (fingers crossed you get a decent yield)

Not that I am aware of, wcgypsy. I finally broke open the original one for them, but it was old when I put it out, and turned out to be completely dried inside. I tossed it. This fresh one, which I put out the last week of December, had liquid sloshing around. I think the squirrel drank that after opening it. It is funny that this is the first time I actually saw the squirrels working on the coconut--but there was evidence that they had been pulling off the outer fibers. I think once I put out the bird seed in the morning, they prefer to just chow on fast food.

Glad to hear it Zeetera! What ports is his ship going to? I've been to Kodiak, Homer, Sitka (loved Sitka!), Glacier Bay National Park and the inside passage (incredible!).

FYI: cruise ships don't go into Anchorage (too shallow).

I think I'll go. I always thought that it would be boring - I'm not too fond of cruises. No decision yet Jodi but I'm getting ideas from you and Glenda.

Great pictures! Up close and personal.

Zeetera, GO! I've never been, but it was on my Wish List.

How many Moms would be thrilled to be asked to go with their son! You can't turn down that offer.
