Aftermarket Pull-out Shelves/Hardware That Are Like Ikea's?

I have a nice-sized pantry closet (not a walk-in) which has shelves which are hung on brackets on sturdy tracks (the kind that look like train tracks) affixed to the pantry's back wall. The closet is 8' high (my ceiling is 9'). The shelves are about 32" wide, and about 22" deep. It's the depth that is a problem. Basically, everything toward the back of the shelves is buried, and to access anything toward the back, I need to move aside all the stuff in the front.

I was recently at Ikea, and loved the tall pull-outs I saw there--where each internal drawer and shelf operate independently, where they're full extension, and so you can see and access everything. I would love to retrofit my closet pantry with that kind of internal pull-out system. It wouldn't go to the top of my pantry of course, but perhaps be "head-high". And of course, I do not need the cabinet enclosure or doorfront that are on the Ikea pull-outs. Where can I buy something like the internal workings of the Ikea pull-outs? Where does Ikea source theirs? Or is this an impossible mission?

The ones sold in the US are non-metric. IKEA sells the Tandembox drawer boxes and glides in the same package, look for Rationell drawers on their website. Some of the glides come with integrated dampers, or you can purchase dampers separetly. You have to purchase the drawer front separetly.

Hi, as numbersjunkie mentioned, you can use the Ikea hardware by itself. Each piece is sold separately. Ikea uses Blum hardware which you should be able to find in many different places.

Lee Valley (as well as other places) also sells similar hardware.
I mention Lee Valley, as I've used their stuff many times in the past, and it's very good quality. (I am not affiliated with them in any way.)

if you search for 'extension' you should see all the extension hardware

For our 'new' kitchen, we are going to be purchasing Ikea cabinets, but for the pull out pantry drawers, we're using Lee Valley, as they have much longer extension capabilities. We can then create our pantry shelves/drawers the full depth of the fridge which is next to it.

Thanks for bringing this up. When we lived overseas, we used ikea for all of our furnishings, because they were way cheaper than other options and we knew that we were only using them for a few years. However, usually at the end, we sold them to other expat families and who knows how long they used them. We are building now, and I'm going down to check out for closets and maybe even look at the hardware. My only problem, in the past, 99% of the time, we were missing hardware of some sort when we unpacked the boxes and then it required another trip to get it. Our new home is thousand of miles away from a store. Did you assemble the Komplement pant hangers yourself or leave them for the builder?

I Googled "roll out drawer for pots" and came up with lots of wood ones similar to the OP. Sorry I don't know how to post more than one link, but I can tell you Home Depot, Lowes, The Container Store, and several others that will ship them. One brand is Slide-A-Shelf. The store in the attached link also looks promising. They make their own and have lots of styles and sizes to choose from for better prices than Home Depot. Also Home Depot and Bed Bath and Beyond sell a little piece to stand pot lids up. Also I've seen a wire rack to hang on the inside of the cabinet door. In a weird role reversal I became the budget watcher on my Mom's kitchen reno and I tried to reduce the more costly drawers and was turned back on all fronts - every KD we met with was pro drawers (pull out shelves are more hassle and often cost the same as the drawers). We did use the manufacturers pull outs in the pantry and probably could have got something nicer for less after market but I just didn't want to have to install them. At least one KD recommended having one regular base cabinet for oversized objects - didn't happen though she does have an angled base cabine that will hold a couple of things. We ended up putting cookie sheets and trays in the cupboard over the fridge (another KD rec) rather than in a base cabinet. The middle cabinet on the side run will be a pull out recycle centre. Cabinet straight ahead is a sink base. Back wall has only one other base cabinet with 4 drawers.

The left is mounted on the side panel and the right is mounted on a special piece that IKEA sold for this application. Don't know if they still sell it, but I'm sure it could be reproduced. The center piece is basically a 1 1/2" piece of MDF that extends the depth of the cab and is secured at the back and front to the bottom of the cab. It functions as a short cab wall and I have a drawer rail mounted on both sides. In your case you could position in where you need to achieve your right wall. I hope I'm explaining this clearly enough, but hope this pic helps. I can take more pix tomorrow if that will help you. IKEA under sink pullouts

If you can make it work with your cabinets, it is often cheaper to buy Blum hardware from IKEA than from anywhere else.

Do the Ikea pull-outs work in American system (non-metric) cabinetry? Also...does Ikea sell the Tandem boxes?

I put trimmed down ikea cabinet boxes in my 22 in deep pantry closet in order to easily use the ikea drawers as roll outs. The cabinet box depth can be decreased down to 21.5 inches and still have room for the drawers. Be sure to trim off the back of the cabinet as the drawer hardware uses the front 2 sets of pre-drilled holes. I previously posted pictures in this link:

Mulemom, what a fabulous idea. Your pantry looks identical to mine in size and decreasing the depth of those cabinets would have to be done to mine as well. Could you have put yet another cabinet on top, instead of the upper, for additional drawer storage on the lower portion?

Blubird, thanks for your kind comments. I used a wall cabinet on top so that I could use the space up in the closet (above the top of the door). I don't see why you can't go up to the top of the door with drawers though. If you wanted to do that I think you might just want to build the inside of the closet out with an ikea pantry cabinet box, instead of stacking cabinet boxes. Have fun!
