What do you think of Pratt&Lambert paint?

My Ace Hardware store is going out of business. And everything is 50% off. They sell Pratt&Lambert paint. What do ya'll think about it. I always hear people talk about BM or SW, but never PL.

just had my exterior house painted here in Connecticut and the painters said that it went on like butter...and from what I read its 100% latex. It was just done so... other then that can't help you. Good luck!

I love Ben Moore.

I painted a bathroom with Pratt and Lambert and found it thin compared to the texture of Ben Moore. To me, you could load more Ben Moore paint on a roller without making a mess.

I have a den, hall and kitchen that was painted 9 years ago with Benjamin Moore. I have twins girls that aren't friendly to the walls. But the den looks clean and great. I always use the eggshell - so that helps for cleanability.

In my bathroom, seven years ago, I used the Pratt and Lambert. It started dinging about five years ago. It didn't hold up near as well, in my opinion.

If I was going to do a big project, Benjamin Moore is the way I'd go. Labor is the biggest part of painting. I'd spend $20 extra on a gallon of paint if it meant I'd get another couple of years out of it.

Something I notice on the Benjamin Moore paint and I don't know if it is the case with all paints, is the color looks different in every light with in the same room. I've heard it is the sign of a good paint, but... My brother came into our new house and pointed at two walls in the entry way asking if they were painted the same color. They were. This phenomena can cause problems with matching fabrics, tiles, etc.

Accolade is their highest quality line...DAMN good paint. Red-Label is very good too. I'd prefer Satin no matter what in a bath, but just don't use FLAT!!!! Faron

I have and like both. The Aura is definitely the better paint, and the price is about the same for the P&L Accolade. I prefer P&L's velvet finish and many of the colors are more interesting, but the Aura applies better, I think.

No experience with your paint color. Just wanted to vote for leather, if you like it. We have 2 large labs, and haven't had any problems with the dogs and the leather furniture. Now, if you have any felines, that is another issue:)

I contact P&L about this, and here was their response: "Thank you for contacting Pratt & Lambert. Sherwin-Williams is our parent company. However, their paints and our paints are not exact formulations. There are similarities between certain paints of theirs and our paint products, but they certainly are not exactly alike. " So apparently there is some difference. I responded asking if the formulations had changed since the SW take-over (as older P&L reviews were generally quite good). I will post back the response (if I get one).

I have used BM and loved it. But think I will give Pratt & Lambert a try. I am only going to scrap and paint as far as I can reach. My house was built in 1895 and is a Victorian Cottage and is all wood. But evenually I am going to have the entire house painted, oh God. And then I will decide on exactly what paint to use.

You can't beat 10 to 12 bucks a gallon for such a small area.

P & L Accolade is their top line.
It's VERY GOOD paint...and we don't even have it!!

Well, I could just kick myself. My store decided to pack all the paint up and move it to another store. Rather than give it away for 50% off.

I should of gone yesterday, but no, I just had to have my hair painted at the hair salon. Well, too late now. I won't be putting things off from now on. Shoot...

Oh really Michael I didn't know that. Actually I had my porch and columns painted with SW. I guess I will stick with it.
