Comments (2)Thanks so much for your response. I didn't think it would look right to only do the hardwood in the middle. I was concerned about the cost and waste of replacing the railing and spindles and hoped they could be reused. We would really like the stairs to be hardwood as the entrance foyer opens to them....See MoreHow to remove and save wrought iron spindles
Comments (6)If you are for sure removing the carpet, I would remove it from 1 stair to see how the spindles are attached. My thought is that there is a hole drilled in the tread that the spindle sits in. Is that how it's attached to the handrail? If you are lucky, you might be able to remove the handrail with spindles attached....See MoreFinally finished! What do you think? Before and After
Comments (54)Beautifully done! I love everything from that rich, navy paint color to the color of the sectional and the drapes! The woman who made them for you did an excellent job (I've been sewing for 52 years). Drapes are not hard to make (at least for me) but they are a lot of work! Enjoy!...See Morestair spindles for new stairs
Comments (9)The way your front door jumps guests right into the stairs, I think iron would be a bit prison like. I would leave the spindles as they are and see what a difference the railing and treads will make. If it isn't exciting enough for you, perhaps new art there would add interest you're looking for. Looks like those two dinky little ceiling lights in the entry could use an upgrade too....See Morecreekylis
