Question about painting a dresser

Hi! We have an old dresser from the 1950's that we want to keep when we move to our new house, but only if we can paint it. Right now it's stained & finished - what do we need to do in order to paint this? Can I prime it on top of the stain? Or do I need to strip that off, before I can begin painting? I'm not a crafty person at all, so have no idea.

I noticed you working on the floor with no knee pads..Shame on you..*s*

You can paint the dresser w/o stripping. What matters most is that the surface is clean and dull.

Use a #150 sandpaper to remove the gloss and then smooth with a #180 sandpaper. Apply a coat of BM Fresh Start Acrylic primer and finish with two coats of quality 100% acrylic enamel.

After the paint is totally cured (that could be as much as 30 days) painted drawers should not stick to anything.

Yea, I guess it's not a big deal if it's not painted behind the gutter, but really? Why would a contractor cheat in this way...should have put a note on the boards to the customer that says 'here, complain about this'.

I would paint it white. Imo, there is no need to add that big contrast around a toilet. I must say that I like your choice of color for the accent wall in your bedroom. Do you have it somewhere else in your bathroom?

Beverly, or Glo, would you do a mock up with that darker color on the bay (or at least, on the large white part below the glass framing) and on the white band, but that lighter version of the same color on the upper siding? Leaving those 2 areas white just looks wrong to me, and so does having it all the same lighter gray - out of balance with the black garage door.
