Quite a while back, I asked a similar question here. In fact, the only difference was that my question was more of a "what if" I found one, rather than "I already did". Besides Nan's valuable advice (and she is a very experienced grower; anything difficult for her is going to be a bear to grow in our zones) we also heard from Russ in FL on that thread. (He's a very knowledgeable guy, with a special interest in Aroids. I'm not sure whether he's done any posting here lately.) He offered some interesting info about the background of the Thai hybrids. I did a search for the thread & found the link, "Pink Aglaonemas" http://forums2.gardenweb.com/forums/load/houseplt/msg071923349372.html?20 Anyway, the general idea was that I couldn't expect to keep one around very long & would do better to spend my money on one of the other lovely, but easier to manage hybrids. The advice I got was enough to keep me from ordering one of Asiatica's gorgeous (pricey) plants. Still, if I saw one "face to face" for $22.99, I might very well end up bringing it home with me! Best of luck! As Nan suggested, throw all the warmth, humidity and light you can at it (well, within reason ;) ! (I also see there was a bit added to the thread after I quit checking back. I'll have to respond!)

'What is your end goal?' Oh, 100 generations, maybe? Seriously, I'm trying to cross hybrids with one or other of their parents to try to approximate that original type, especially with varieties which are hard to breed, like Apple Blossom. I'm very excited to see a 2011 San Remo x Apple blossom in bud for the first time. When this flowers, I hope there will be another Apple Blossom in flower so that I can use the pollen to try to pollinate the hybrid and get some seeds which have the potential to be even more similar to Apple Blossom. It would be easier if the generation time was 20 minutes like bacteria, instead of 3-4 years!

Hmmm... Garden Party? Will have to check that. What would be strange is I have two of these bought from different places (Walmart body bag and the other J&P from a local nursery) and BOTH are identical in form, color, etc... Kind of led me to believe that it had to be a nature thing because they are in the same garden. Guess we will just have to wait and see how they do with age. Thanks! Michelle

I've read different things. One was update your java and remove any older java that you have in - Control Panel - Add and Remove Hardware. Go here and click on the words (do I have java) http://java.com/en/download/download_the_latest.jsp Others reasons explained at these 2 websites. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/283807 http://www.askbobrankin.com/red_x_appears_instead_of_image.html I have found that if I open Outlook Express I can see the pictures. Open Outlook Express - Tools - Options - Security Tab - Un Check Block Images and other external content Do you have AOL or what? If you have AOL, Internet service other than AOL send picture they may or may not show up. If they don't show in AOL they probably will show in Outlook Express. For me they always show up in Outlook Express.
