recommend stain for cedar shingles

Please recommend a long lasting stain for cedar shingles on my house. The shingles are 3 years old and never stained. They have a fire retardant. (Looks like a power wash will clean them up well.)

80% of house will require scaffolding, which I can't afford to do too often!

I'm looking for recommendations for 2 products.

On the south side, that no one can see, I will use a solid stain or paint.

For the west side, I want a natural look and am willing to re-stain every 3- 5 years.

A contractor suggested Flood's new "UV@5 Oil" or "UV ultra Oil" (it is apparently new).

Anyone use this product? can you suggest others?

Grapes need as much sun as possible, so that would not be my first choice. The clematis could work well, although it offers a rather limited bloom period. A climbing hydrangea (H. petiolaris or Schizophragma hydrangeoides) is another possibility. I'd try to keep the vine off the shakes. Even a deciduous vine will trap and hold moisture under it and against the shakes during the growing season and this plus lack of air circulation can speed up decomposition of the cedar siding.

The white cedar single stains described in this thread are mostly applied by dipping the shingles in stain at the factory which provides the best protection. Weatherwash is a brand of interior furniture stain that can be used on exterior wood with a protective coating of Weatherwash's Exterior Water Sealer. That seems like additional expense for less protection.

I will upload one. Thank you for your reply. Paint brand is Pittsburgh Paint. Not sure about the primer. Painter is supposed to be coming by to see it. I'm guessing the correct primer would be oil-based?
