Good for you, that looks fantastic!!! I love the look of painted paneling it's fabulous. I am not a master in regards to window treatments, I'm a hang, look and re-do sort but I think if the rod placed above the window is the same distance above the moulding the length could be different, but you woud want both window rods to be placed the same.

Funny how men hate the thought of painting wood! That room will be great.

Robbi, I've been watching the forum for some time to see if you were going to paint the paneling and post pictures. Good for you! It looks so warm and light! I'm anxious to see your rooms as they evolve. Great Job!

No suggestions on the height of the drapes? I'd like to try and hang them tonight if anyone has a suggestion.

I think the drapes should be hung at the same same height using the same rods. If I understand correctly, the drapes are the same.
Your painting painting looks wonderful - I have also followed your threads - what a big job. We also have 2 story walls and ceiling to repaint - I keep putting it off - I know how much work it was for you. It looks great and brightens up you room!

Thank you magothyrivergirl. That is what I thought was "correct" about the drapes, but since the wall is so tall, I didn't know if there were different "rules".

Yes, leaving the ceiling alone was a compromise. It's funny, my son (6 yr old) commented this morning, that the room looked really good, but we really needed to paint the ceiling! I think he just wanted to climb on the scaffolding some more (he only climbed on the outside of it, like a jungle gym).

The color of the paint really makes the wood trim stand out. I'm going to do some playing around with different pieces of trim and try to make the doorway trim to the foyer a bit more 'grand'.

Wow that looks awesome! I painted paneling in our hall and our sitting room, I love it. I think the paneling is just toooo dark. Glad DH likes it too, that always helps.

I still don't have all the furniture back in my rooms either - and I have no clue yet how I'll arrange things (nothing has ever looked right in the LR). Got my new DR table yesterday, and now I hate how my sideboard looks with it, so.... well, it never ends does it? LOL

I'm SO glad, and I bet you are too, that your dh agreed to painting all that paneling. I think your style and the stuff you have is all going to look great in there!

Wow, that looks so much better. I'm really impressed that you painted that room yourself. I think the ceiling looks good and adds some warmth and interest. I love how it turned out. I'm no drapery expert, but agree with the majority to keep them the same height. If you ever decide to get a different floor rug, have you thought of hanging the one you have now up high on one of the tall walls? It would look smashing.

No help here with the curtains, I am decorating challenged. Just had to tell you it looks fantastic.

Thank you again for the compliments. The stairs (behind the fireplace) were the really hard part because of how the ladders had to be angled. My dh was a big help in moving them around and holding them still (one tended to be wobbly).

I did hang the curtain the same height as the other one and it looks good. I need to take another pictures because we flipped the chairs around. The two wing backs are on the tv side of the room and the over sized chair and ottoman are on the newly painted side.

Valinsv, I hadn't thought about hanging the cowhide on the wall! I've been wondering what I am going to do with all that space up there. Of course getting it hung may be a challenge?!?! Then I could have some coordinating wool rugs on the floor? I kept trying to put a wool rug in there along with the cowhide and it just wasn't working.

That's one thing I love about this forum is all the fresh eyes. I still haven't hung anything on the walls. We keep moving the chairs around trying to find the best fit and figure out what we need to fill in the blanks.
