Four Siblings--There's always One

Isn't there?

Little old aunt, who has no other relatives but us had a stroke a while back, and eventually ended up in assisted living. Three of us have put in many, many, MANY hours seeing that she got the appropriate medical care and rehab, researching and choosing a nice place for her to live, untangling her finances, worrying about if she has enough to live on as long as she will need it, doing her wash, cleaning out her apt (a HUGE undertaking we're still working on) etc etc etc. And--the really big one--seeing that she has frequent visitors to keep her spirits up.

Then there's the other one. In over 2 months, she's made it up exactly twice to visit Auntie. One one visit, I asked her to do the wash because I was out of town. "What? That will take me TWO hours!" she exclaimed (hey, I've been putting in 40-50 almost every week, trying to help my sweet little old aunt, but no matter). other niece's excuse? she lives an hour away. Hey, I live an hour in another direction, so what?

So here's the clincher--this niece wants aunt's car. Okay--we're happy to get rid of it, since she won't be driving it any longer, and niece is willing to pay a fair price for it. So where's the problem? She wants it delivered to her. That means 2 of us, who don't live near her, have to go to Aunt's apt (which isn't near either of our houses) get the car, drive it an hour to this gal, then one of us has to go way out of their way to drive the other one home. We're talking about probably the better part of a day by the time you get this sort of thing coordinated and worked out.

Sheesh, some people really feel entitled, don't they?

Just for the record--that WON'T be happening. The other sib and I don't have the time--we still have to finished clearing and cleaning aunt's apt. by the end of the month, so we simply do not have a day to toss away like that. And no, that 'other' one hasn't offered us any help with that, either. Not that we've asked. When we had to clean mom's apt after she died, 'that' one only came up to load her car, never stayed around to do the scrubbing and heavy cleaning the rest of us took care of.

Don't get me wrong--I do love my sis, but there are days when she makes it tough to like her a lot.
