Many manufacturers do that, the primary reason is regarding the the summer ventilation where homeowners neglect to ventilate as described above. Generally a manufacturer won't deny a warranty claim unless the failure is due that that condition, however there's nothing wrong with playing it safe if you don't live the idea of a storm anyway. There are some unscrupulous companies that will take any opportunity that they can get to deny a claim

I ordered a new porch light with a copper finish for our front porch, and a new storm door which I thought had a white door handle. They were both installed one day when I was away and had given the contractor access to the house. When I got home, I discovered that the storm door actually has a brass handle. I hate it. Well, the door is fine, but it’s the handle that I hate. I called the manufacturer, and no they don’t have the same handle in a white finish. I also found out that whereas some storm doors have handles that are pretty much universal, this particular manufacturer (Nelson) doesn’t. What are my options other than completely replacing either the door or the light fixture, both of which are brand new. And I forgot to mention that I also have a copper flower box nearby, so that’s why I’m trying not to clash with copper specifical

Oil is being discontinued everywhere for health and environmental reasons and down the road, you will also have to do extra steps to remedy before using latex. Over 20 years I have personally painted the interior and exterior of our two homes with latex - every room, including trim, baseboards, doors, and kitchen cabinets. There is no need for oil, especially with great latex alternatives and painter can use a narrow sponge roller on the wider flat areas and a brush in the curved area if you have a concern about brush strokes. I used these on my kitchen cabinets and finish Is perfect.

We have a storm door with a full pane of glass. It allows you to see our lovely door, but lack of a crossbar in the Middle means fingerprints unless you are super careful to just touch the frame. When the screen is in, lack if a crossbar in the middle means you risk stretching or tearing the screen. Also, we have these plastic things that hold the screen or storm in. You can see manufacturer videos about how easy it is to switch, but the plastic has no pliabilty so it's such a miserable job, we often leave the storm in all year. We haven't put the screen in yet, despite tempsin the 90s a week or so ago. So, chech how easy it is to swap screen and storm and in person, not just on a video.
