Do stone/tile floors and dark cabinets exist in kitchens anymore?

Just curious. I absolutely love white kitchens and wood floors. But has anyone recently done travertine (or similiar) floors and dark stained cabinets? I would love to see pics!

Our kitchen is in the works and I'm having a hard time deciding on perimeter countertops. The perimeter cabinets are glazed natural Walnut and the island is going to be painted a white milk paint with walnut butcher block countertops. Any thoughts? Thanks a bunch!

We are doing dark stained lyptus cabinets with porcelain tile which looks like travertine...I should have pics next week.

LOL! That's what I get for going against my usual but-monitors-are-all-different spiel :) (On my screen it's a pale willow green with spruce blue and yellow moss lines :) ) The colors you describe as the real thing don't affect the fact that it's a gorgeous piece of stone. The lights and darks would still be the same and that's what gives it its life :) I'd say the same thing for the backsplash as I did before. Especially if you do the potrack. You'll have lots going on on the wall, so do a simple tile that doesn't compete with or blend with the granite. The one thing you might want to think about is color accents. That's the only thing I don't see in what you've shared (since the real stone is so neutral). Do you have cannisters, ornaments, etc., that will provide a little punch of color? Or clutter? That's all it would take :) Trust yourself more. You really are doing fine!

Existing oak wood floors are too low to match with new wood in kitchen

You can put in a new floor in the kitchen and have it matched to the old one. It won’t have a patina but if done correctly blends very well! You can barely tell the difference between my 70 year old and 6 month old floors.

The cabinets look good, the countertop and splash work well together. The floor looks cheap and out of place with what you have and what you want. The floor should go first, then make changes as you can afford them. If it were me, no way would I spend the money and effort to paint those cabinets and switch to fake marble at the tail end of the trend. And if you go ahead with your plan, as a rule, unless the stone matches the counter, then you do not use two stones, much the less fake marble and real marble. So counter is Caesarstone xyz, you get the same for backsplash. With natural stone you can match with slabs or tiles made of the stone. For maximum impact with minimal spend, Glacier White Corian married with Carrara subway works wonderfully well. Google images and you will see. I can't post pics when I am on mobile device, sorry. We swore we would get a medium sized black dog that doesn't shed much. But you cannot help who you fall in love with at the shelter. We ended up with a 65 pound super shedder, mostly white. My wardrobe is nearly all black as is all of the furniture in our home. We keep swiffer in business, I use lint rollers a ton, and have always had hardwood floors. They are easy on my joints and on our dog's too. These big breeds don't last forever and have a load of hip problems as they age. Wood floors are more forgiving and comfortable for them too. And, yes, they hide hair better than black or white tile.

classic and elegant.

My porcelain floor (looks like travertine) has been installed. We have dark lyptus cabinetry (or will have). Here's some pictures.
