Gripe : it's too hot outside to get stuff done
Comments (25)I agree this is getting a little out of hand. there has been no relief from the heat here! The air temp 91, real feel of 97 today, and forecast to keep getting warmer each day. No rain or cold front for at least a week. We have little to no rain, and this is not normal for us.....it's not even August yet :( I can wait to see what the dog days of summer bring then....NOT! I water and weed in the early AM, and i am sweating like mad after been out there for even 30 mins. I also must admit, i have gotten lazy too - i have gone as long as a week W/O watering, but plants seem fine ( not doing that now that we are over 90 again) I always say to my kids, If i wanted Florida weather, i would move there ( i do not like it)This is Wisconsin, mother nature! Please turn off the furnace :-(...See MoreCan't get motivated to start moving things back
Comments (7)I have been resisting getting a rug or decor for my formal livingroom until the new floor is in. DH does not want to even look at rugs until the sofa is picked out. It is really hard to hold off but it is better in the end. For you, I would not want to do anything until it is all done. That may mean staying on them until they get it done so you can clean and move back in. They may hurry because you are on them so much. If you read my post about our huge fireplace hole in the wall ordeal you will see I understand your lack of motivation. The weather this time of year slows us down a lot. I say draw you line in the sand and wait until you are ready. We set a goal of being done by Christmas and now dh is talking about starting on it this weekend....See MoreGetting stuff done
Comments (22)Busy weekend! Paid bills, balanced the checkbook, mowed the lawn, cut down a dead tree, trimmed my lilac bush, taped my new wood stairs so I could prime and paint the foyer and stairway - then primed and painted (until I ran out of paint - one quart short!) Next up - finish painting the foyer, and reinstall baseboards. Upcoming projects - paint my sons' bedrooms, since they are both off doing internships this summer (and as college seniors, they probably won't ever live at home again). I just ordered a stencil for one of the bedrooms - can't wait to get that project started!...See MoreStuff, stuff, stuff, stuff, stuff, stuff, stuff!
Comments (61)"Just wait until you have to pack up all that crap and move it." My SIL just bought a retirement home so they are decluttering their current house as a preparation for selling it--she keeps telling me she can't believe how much STUFF she's got to get rid of. When I go to their house I always admire how it looks nicely organized and without extraneous things all over. However, I also admire her tons of closets and storage space which she says leads to keeping, you guessed it, all that stuff LOL. I've decided I will play a mental game this summer and pretend we have to move; maybe that will be my motivation to get rid of much unnecessary and unused stuff in our house! I use the holidays and shopping for gifts to satisfy any yen I may have to be a retail hunter/gatherer. The past few years I increasingly feel as if I am gorging myself after staying on a careful and healthy diet; by the time January comes I feel so psychically bloated from all the shopping /buying that I need another year to rest up and recover! It's interesting to me to watch my young adult daughter who is setting up her first home. She loveslovesloves Home Goods, Marshalls, Pier 1 etc. And when I go with her I usually find stuff I could easily buy. I have a rule that I can't take anything from those places home the day I see it. That usually short circuits the purchase, I'm rarely motivated enough to fight the traffic and crowds to go back a second time!...See More- 17 years ago
