Have you thought of more of a sagey green maybe? The colors you painted swatches of seem to blend and almost be the same color as the living room with such little light. Not sure if you wanted it to flow with a subtle difference or for the green to stand out a little more? I just painted my kitchen louisburg Green by BM. It's a sagey green that goes nicely with any taupe colors, also there's another by BM called paris rain I think...it's a more muted color. Here's a pic a member of the kitchen forum had provided me of her kitchen, which I loved the color and went with the same! It's the Louisburg! My kitchen is still in progress otherwise I'd show you pics of it. My granite has black, greys, reds, and creams in it with white cabs. This color does a good job of being a neutral but pulling in other colors. My accent color is a deep red which is in my very upper display cabs near the ceiling. I think it would work nicely with the orange in your living room, and from the pic seems to match the green in your rug! Here's the Paris Rain (wall color) This one may be a little too minty though for your space! Not sure...just some ideas!

Your kitchen sounds lovely. Have you posted this question on the decorating forum? I ask because they have so many great people who know color. I have a few ideas but it is hard to know the specific shade of terracotta or the stain on your maple. Instead I posted some light maple kitchens with similar counters. Judging from your picture, I think that you'll have a hard time finding a clay or taupe color that won't clash with your cabinet stain. I would consider the wood a color, which it is, and then find a color that will blend with all your components. The first color I thought about is gray...especially a blue gray, depending on your flooring. Another color that might work would be a buttery yellow.

I don't think the bead board is the real issue: ) It's clear you have a baby or toddler. While he/she napping? Step away from painting for a day. Take all the magnets and doo dads off the fridge. Stow every single bit of counter top clutter you can stow.. Same with top of fridge. Is that cereal or cook books up there? (The backsplash perhaps not the best with your flooring) A soft grayish green in the kitchen, Some art on the wall, some additional STORAGE , might take you a long way to a better look, along with a back splash change. Take another picture after you do the de clutter and stow, and include a close up of the floor. Take another angle as well, ....from that entry door. Might not be the answers you wanted to hear, but try all that and yes.........more pics: ) !
