Soapstone counter with 1 inch hexagon tile backsplash

We are finally re-doing out kitchen (1908 house). Our counter is soapstone with heavy veining, floor is oak, cabinets are white. I have considered every backsplash including white subway, white 6x6, calacatta 6x6 or subway, 4 inch soapstone with beaderboard above it to the cabinets. We have come up a new idea that we both like. What does everyone think of using 1 inch white hexagon tiles, going up to the cabinets as a backsplash? I had placed my sample piece of soapstone on the bathroom floor and it looked surprisingly good. It does not look too busy like I would expect. Please help because this is the only backsplash idea my husband and I come anywhere close to agreeing about!
