Steel door - exterior skin bubble
Comments (3)I'd guess your problem relates to either the dark color, heat buildup with the storm door, improper priming, or type of paint. We have a steel front door that faces SW and were told not to paint it a dark color and definitely not go with a storm door. The original steel door we painted ourselves & we had trouble with paint adhesion. Last year we needed to replace it for other reasons & wanted to do a fiberglass door, but they advised against it due to its exposure to the elements & heat. So, we again went with steel, had it painted a light color & it was ugly. Couldn't stand the light color. We had an automotive dealer paint it the same teal color as the first door. So far so good. The walk-in door to our garage (S side of house), also teal painted by an auto dealer, still bubbles on the window trim & I repaint the trim about every year. We're in Nebraska. I'll be anxious to hear what others say....See MoreHELP - I need help deciding on storm door/front door combo color.
Comments (3)Front doors should stand out and be welcoming, color that pops. You could try something like a Raspberry Truffle in the reds, or maybe a Bermuda Blue....See Morefront entry help - front door is hidden
Comments (5)Oh wow, it's really hidden! lol Your furniture plan for the porch sounds lovely and I imaging having the door tucked away adds a nice sense of privacy and security. What about removing/relocating the bushes in front of the porch? Removing them might make the space look larger and more welcoming where as now they seem to make the space small and dark. Maybe swap them for some flowerbeds. It doesn't sound like you'd want to take on awindow-to-door conversion but it would look really great if you did. You've got a lot of space from an exterior view and having the steps lead up to the door would look very welcoming. You'd also have to consider what's on the other side of the wall and how that would affect the layout of your porch furniture, too (I'm sure you've already thought of that though). You've got a beautiful home, I'm sure whatever you decide it'll look great. Good luck! - Ariana...See MoreBig changes and I need help! shutters, garage door, and front door.
