How Many Computer Desks Are In Your Home?

I have one in my bedroom and one in my kitchen for my computers. I have 4 more. They are in my sewing room. They are great to put sewing machines on. The last one was given to me and it no longer has the upper part, good table for the sewing room. How many of you have more than one desk?

I have 3 p.c.s and 2 laptops, and two computer desks - one in grandson's room and one in the living room.

One, down in our home network center...has modem and printers on it.

We use laptops.

I actually took a look at my work desk. Monitor, keyboard & CPU Pix of DH & me Ceramic monkey I gave my Dad over 25 years ago Altoids box full of paper clips digi cam dozens of sticky note pads in assorted sizes sharpies, highlighters 2 hole punch stapler phone cell phone mouse pad more papers than any one person should have files, files, files phone log maps drawings printed emails staple remover wet wipes 2 bottles of hand sanitizer dachshund made of metal & a rock jar full of agates picture of Honolulu box of kleenex piles of napkins scanner-cat thing to scan files to me 3 binders of assorted sizes coffee cup several bottles of water in various depths bag of almonds water glass empty flower vase This is just on top of one desk. I have a table, a lateral file and a bookcase in my cube. I won't go into detail about what is on them...as well as my floor. Sigh.

Our house was a new build in 2007. It was a spec home so we didn't get to pick colors. Colors when we bought it- SW 7036 Accessible Beige on Walls and ceilings throughout Trim-SW 7008 Alabaster Dining room-SW San Antonio Sage Powder Room-SW Rookwood Blue-Green Trim and Wainscotting in Bonus Room-SW Tavern Taupe Hated all of the colors but loved the house. We have redone about 50% of the interior so far using BM Aura matte, but with some SW colors matched in Aura. Dining room is now BM Aura Pomegranate with ceiling in SW Alabaster Powder Room walls/ceiling are Valspar Belle Grove Light Amber (fell in love with this color and it was a one gallon job so I used Valspar paint-it came out pretty good but this is a low traffic room with wainscotting 4 feet up the walls so the walls won't get any hand contact) Kitchen is BM Aura Matte in BM472 Aganthus Green-ceiling remains undecided (still Accessible Beige) Great Room including coffer inserts is BM Aura Matte in BM473 Weekend Getaway Bonus room became a playroom for my 4 year old-walls in SW 6715 Lime Granita-all of the trim was converted to Alabaster from Tavern Taupe. I used Aura Semi-Gloss to get the right coverage. 4 Year old's bedroom is SW 6849 Partytime with 6848 Panache Pink on the ceiling 4 year old's bathroom is SW 6716 Dancing Green with Alabaster on the ceiling Master Bedroom and bath will be SW 7621 Silvermist with Silvermist on the bathroom ceiling and an undetermined lighter shade in the bedroom's tray ceiling ( I sampled a 25% mix of Silvermist but it screamed "It's A BOY!") I'm working on this room now. Still to come is the foyer/stairwell/upper hallway, a bedroom we use as a home office, and the entire finished basement which has a playroom/theater, bedroom, and full bath. I may hire out the foyer and stairwell as opposed to renting scaffolding but I'll be doing the rest myself.

If it's a service, they've been to my house... roofer, plumber, electrician, architect, designers, general contractors, cabinet makers, granite installers, sheet rockers, texture person, window installers, painters, more painters, arborist, landscape architect, glass installer, appliance repair people (fridge, and washing machine), concrete repair people, carpet installers, tile layers (like 10 of them!!) fence installers... sigh. Worst year of my life! Biggest remodel we've ever done... shudder. Now I need a pharmacist, wine salesman and therapist to help me recover... ;)

Of course so much depends on what you use your office for. You'll have different needs if you're running a mail order business out of your garage than if you're trying to keep your household finances organized. I struggled with office organization and clutter for a long time. I tried many configurations but none of them worked well for long because they were too much trouble to maintain. Finally I got serious. I went through all of my stuff and, of course, realized I didn't need half of it -- almost everything is available online. I donated my printer/copier/scanner because I seldom used the copy/scan function and was spending a small fortune on ink. I got a compact laser printer which takes up little space, needs no ink cartridges, and honestly I rarely use that either. Everything is electronic. I bought a beautiful glass desk with two shallow drawers. The only things on the desk are a lamp, a cup for pens/pencils, a small box for paper clips and my laptop. The drawers hold frequently needed supplies -- note cards, notepads, envelopes, a tiny stapler and a pencil sharpener. All other files and supplies are stored off the desk. I bought and painted a low bookcase (two drawer lateral file cabinets would be a good alternative) for the wall next to the desk. The printer sits on top -- you could put other office machines there too. Office supplies are in baskets and decorative boxes on the first shelf. Binders and reference materials sit on the bottom shelf. All of my files are stored in a file cabinet in the closet of an adjacent bedroom. A small fire-proof safe with important documents, sits on top of the file cabinet. I try to clean out the cabinet annually after taxes and find I'm STILL keeping too much paper. The trick, I think, is to let go of those binders, files, office machines and books from long-finished classes and projects. Almost all information can be retrieved elsewhere, and supplies easily procured, so think twice about allocating precious space to them. Keep your desk for your computer, a good lamp, and a cup of coffee. Find a home for everything else.

My main computer is in the family room/office, on my 40-year-old wood desk. My second computer is in the recreation/sewing room, on a computer desk. My laptop resides on a small table in the sitting area of our bedroom.

I also have a table in the guest suite with two old computers--one for games and one for regular computer stuff.

We have one computer desk. It is in the guest room with a lamp on it. Everyone has a laptop and DH has an Apple desktop that is on an antique desk in our bedroom.

We have 2. DD's rarely gets used though since she got rid of the desktop computer and got a laptop.

One. It's plenty for the two of us. It's in the kitchen and handy when I want to take a break for 15 minutes or so. Also handy when I'm cooking and can pull up a recipe and have it close.

We have five. Three in the office (for DH's and my computers, and another one that is strictly used to command the direct to garment printer DH uses for business), one in Mom's sewing room for her computer, and one in an extra room for DGS computer.

I forgot one, it is in my husband's bedroom. He no longer has a computer on it but keeps his stuff on it.

Just one ~ for my desktop.

My laptop is on the dining room table.

I can also retrieve mail and browse the web on my iPod Touch.

Can't wait to check out the iPad!

DH has one in his room,i however have just 2 large old office desks in my sewing/craft/computor room.Picked them both up at goodwill many years ago for 35.00 each.Much better than those computor desks they sell made from fiberboard.JMO

Dh reinforced his and has his acquarium on it,as he uses a laptop now.

When I had the "computer room" setup I had two typing tables that I used for the computers. One was an old wooden one and the other was an old metal one. They both worked well. Now that I use a notebook I use a Tablemate next to the recliner. Works great. I have one wooden computer desk and I've never put it together. It's in the basement and will get thrown someday.

Two computer desks in 2 separate rooms plus a regular desk with hutch in a third room. Ny grown son who had to move back in while he job hunts also has a computer desk.

Just one desktoop (which I'm sitting at now) and my two daughters each own a laptop, gifts for high school graduation.

1 desk which is in my office/craft room and not used for a computer. we just got rid of the desk in DH's office/hobby room. our desktop which is our server functions as a stand alone w/ no monitor, we never do anything w/ that lol. we each have laptops and a netbook for travelling w/ and never sit at a desk. ~ liz
