Caulk for primed/painted interior door trim?

My husband recently installed primed wood door trim from a Big Box store around our interior doors. I painted them white before installation & now I want to caulk at corners/etc & do some paint touchups. I asked someone to stop by the same Big Box to pick up some caulk for me. The product the Big Box guy gave him was GE Silicone II (100% silicone sealant) which clearly states it is nonpaintable. He questioned the Big Box guy about this & was told that this is what everyone uses.

I don't have a lot of experience in this area, but it would seem to me that even tho the silicone is white & my trim is painted white that I would want a paintable product to ensure good color match now and in the future should the trim color change.

Am I correct in my concern? If so, what specific product should I be using? I know it's always a risk when asking employees at the Big Boxes unfortunately.

Thanks for helping me out BEFORE I ending up making a mess for myself.
