Card Making, and read all of your posts

Hi, Ok so it is a slow day but I read all of the past posts this afternoon since I am learning to do stamping, especially and creating greeting cards, so read the hints and printed many of them. Too bad there is not more up-to-date posts on this but I will look around in here. PW

I agree with you. There's a lot of good stuff here but people need to post a bit more regularly with their ideas.

Maybe we can start a project of the week or month thing. Pick a subject and make a card and post a photo of it.

I need to have some reason to make a card nowadays!!

"I just found acetamiprid in OrthoÃ¯Â¿Â½ Flower, Fruit & Vegetable Insect Killer Concentrate" Thanks for posting that Randy. I'm going to start recommending that when people want another option besides Triazicide Once and Done. Acetamiprid is much better than carbaryl or malathion (both of which have been discussed on this forum recently). I use the equivalent (Assail). It's a reduced risk pesticide, absorbs in plant tissues which makes it more rainfast, and has good activity against lep. pests and some activity against plum curc. The only downside I see is that it is more expensive (80 bucks/quart) than Triazicide or carbaryl, so that may scare some people off.

Okay-- a couple of things. First, the poly's not necessary between the foundation and studs. Secondly, I missed the part about the shower pan being the concrete floor. That shouldn't be done. The ONLY way you could get away with it, as far as I'm concerned, would be to set a Kerdi drain in the concrete, with the "halo" flush with the concrete, and then the floor could be Kerdi'ed to the walls, along WITH the walls. THEN it would work. Of course, the concrete in that area would have to be sloped appropriately to the drain (1/4" per running foot from the furthest point away from the drain) But to just expect the slab to act as the pan with no waterproofing, and not expect to have problems would be fooling yourself.

Beanthere dunthat, I didn't know that either, and like you, find it very interesting! Palm reading may be easier when reading the palm of someone who's lived, rather than one who is developing. I suspect palms are in a way like DNA, but I've wondered at times if people's palms ever change? Lars you have e-mail. You are exactly right when you said one of the powers of Tarot is to make subconscious thoughts conscious. What the cards suggest are usually good advice, whether we seem to know it or not. Even if it's something I think I know, I always consider the suggestions carefully. Tarot and Astrology are naturally intertwined when you think that each of the suits (Wands, Swords, Pentacles and Cups) also represent Fire, Air, Earth, Water, and the relationships seem more obvious. I had my numerology chart done years ago by my SIL's sister. I should probably dig that out and look at it again, if I can find it. I thought it was fascinating, and think numerology can offer insights as well. I always look to see what the new month/years numbers hold. Thanks for reminding me I haven't done that yet this month!

Good tip! I got a recipe for liver treats, and considering all the disgusting revolting and harmful crap that goes into the base for pet food and treats, I have decided to start making my own treats as well. As for the regular food, I switched to Natures Variety after much research and my dog and cat loved it from the start. It is a little more expensive but much healthier so could save in vet bills in the long run. If you email Natures Variety and say you would like some samples, they send you a coupon for a FREE 5lb bag. (valued at around $9 depending on where you buy it) Anyway, here is the recipe for liver jerky Cook some calves liver in water, till done (don't overcook, look for timing on poached liver either in a cookbook or online) Add some chopped garlic to the water for extra flavor Remove liver and cut into bite size chunks appropriate for your dog's size. Place on cookie sheet and into a 200 degree over for 2 or 3 hours, till dried. Store in a container in the fridge. The whole point is to turn it into "jerky" and some new ovens, like mine, have a food dehydrating setting, but the low heat/long time setting in a regular oven should work fine. If you try it, I would love to hear how it works out. I have finals this week, but will have more time next week and plan on making a huge batch to give as xmas presents to dogs of friends and family and to the rescue group where I got Oobi. Now, Ms minnamouse, I wonder if I add lemon juice to the liver at some point if it would help it to keep longer, so it won't have to go in the refridgerator...any suggestions on when to add it? Although, jerky is supposed to keep forever, AND these treats are so delicious that they won't last long!

Okay, it isn't exactly a card, but my sister just made a very cool wall tile by combining card making techniques with a bunch of mod podge.

For all of the work that goes in to making a card, I like the idea of it being something you can display rather than just save in a drawer.

I don't know how to post photos to this site yet, but she posted a pic on our blog (see link below)

I like the idea of a project to work on and share. I suppose several would have to commit to trying it since just like me not too many post and I also have not looked for quite a while.

I just finished 100 pumpkin cards. I am a Realtor and I am sending these with a Happy Fall Y'all message (inside)to my customers. Just a pumpkin stamp on front, simply a quick coloring in orange and browns and the glue-ie sparkle a bit at top and edges of the pumpkin. then a leaf stamp inside which is also colored and sparkled. they are cute. Now on to Christmas ones. Looking for ideas.

Those pumpkin cards sound really cute mz.

I don't have any brilliant ideas for Christmas yet, but if anyone else is still working on autumn, I found a cuteidea for a paper pieced pumpkin in a card making magazine last year.

The magazine name escapes me, but it is basically just three orange ovals (with little dents at the top and bottom) stacked with foam dots or something to add dimension. Add a stem and a few green paper curls for vines.

I just used cardstock (because I am cheap about supplies) but it would be really cute with a patterned paper or some inking on the edges.

I used it in my dog's puppy scrapbook rather than as a card. (Ignore the amateur scrapping and photography - it was one of my first layouts) There is a picture in my scrapjazz gallery if it helps with the visual.
