Sombreiul, I'm not sure what you mean about the top being abbreviated and it having a higher crown, but I looked at the top and I don't see any evidence that anything else was ever attached to the top. No screw holes or glue or anything. As far as the pins on the "decal", their are little gold nail heads or pins on each side of the decal. Linda, I took pictures of the back of the handles and the key from the lock. The handles do hang off the sides on the front but that might be because one door is raised on the edge and the handle would not lay flat. Maybe they moved the other over to match? The key says "ASRO" and under that it says REG and a D with a dot under it REG IN UK and on the back says British Made.

Linda , who are you talking to ? Refinishing furniture is not about "what's it going to be worth when I'm done" .If it was I would not be in business for as long as I have. Maybe with all your knowledge you should open your own shop and offer dipping, and teach how to float an old finish . $700 to refinish that piece ? Are we getting that price from "Bob" who works out of his garage or a furniture refinsher who makes a full time living from his craft. You hosed down your furniture ? Now your really showing off your skills. Not rocket science , NO , but any day you wanna step up to my strip tank and strip a piece like this lady has, I'll see you and your 3 kids 2-3 days later depending on how much paint is on there and how the first coat took to the wood.MY guess is you'd give up before lunch. Be sure to let me know when ya run out of steel wool and brass brisled tooth brushes. You can continue to tell people to float their finishes and to put new finish over years of old finish and dirt.It may cut it for the hobbiest or the guy working in his barn. However it does not work for the general public who are paying top dollar for my services. You may be nice to everyone that comes on these forums, but it's people like yourself that are a danger to others who know less than you do and think your word is the gospel. I will continue to defend my practice of not taking a short cut and that there is only one way to do it. The right way. NOT my way ,but the right way.

This question is actually pretty common. I posted a pic of our kitchen on the thread linked below, but boxer pups included some gorgeous professional photos. Ours is black and cream, but our neighbour loved ours and just redid hers in cream on top and a dark brown stain on the bottom. She used a ceasarstone counter with a cream background and flecks of brown in it. It looks gorgeous. I think the key to making this successful is to minimize other elements in the kitchen. The countertop should be either the colour of the cabs or a mix of both without bringing alot of another colour - same with the backsplash. When we first did it some thought it would get old fast, but I still love it and it's been 4 years. I think I would do it again, if I was to remodel another kitchen.
