Varieties that are cold hardy and rated "excellent" for flavor: Jersey, Blueray, Patriot, Spartan, Hardy Blue, Blue Crop, Nelson, Friendship. Jersey has a smaller berry and is the one for blueberry muffins. All of those I listed should be very suitable for Idaho. If you want to give 5-6 plants, I suggest that you give 5-6 different varieties. That way she can see which one she likes the best, just in case she decides to add more plants later.

Viking Queen is a terrific climber and its canes are flexible enough that you should be able to train it the direction you want. It is also fairly disease resistant and can tolerate a bit of shade, if necessary. Mine is in full sun most of the day and does well, but Florence grows hers in a lot of shade, so it is evidently adaptable. It is not a vivid color, however. Check it out on the link below. It's up! DH showered in there last night ("his" bathroom is still down to the studs and beams!)--said it was much roomier inside, even with the further in placement of the bar. That's good since we really couldn't place the bar any further out with the spacing of the tub and toilet. We were trying to cover as much of the bottom edge tub with the curtain as possible, while trying to avoid having the bar look too low in relation to the ceiling. We moved the tension rod up and down a bit in order to determine bar height. I think I'd have preferred the curtain to come down a little lower at the bottom, but compromised, in order to keep the rod itself at a visually appealing or proportionate height. It's all about trade-offs and compromises with this stuff as we have found time and time again. As it is, I think the rod height and the height of the curtain hem off the floor (on ours) are pretty much where one of the how-to sites recommended, so there you go! Call me crazy but I love the glass door fridge and wouldn't care what the inside looked like. I feel many refrigerator interiors are over designed -- at least they are for me. I took a look at the FDs at Lowe's the other day and there were so many compartments taking up space in there, I'd have a problem storing food just for the two of us. The real issue with the glass-door SZ, at least from my perspective, is the cost -- $12K. For a 36" refrigerator. Made in America but yikes. I'm aware because I thought I might have to replace my 10 y.o. Viking a few months back and SZ fits the space. Fortunately, they were able to repair it, again. Tech said I should get 20 years from it so I'll never need to worry about kitchen "transparency." But if I could I would because I think there's a certain wabi sabi aspect to the inside of a fridge.
