Cracking Vellum - part 2

Tried the water - didn't work. In fact, the gold sparkle washed off the paper and left it a mustardy color. The other funny thing was that the paper shrunk in one direction. I had the pieces cut in squares and the points met when I folded it wet, but when it dried, it became a rectangle. Go figure. I guess I won't be making a gold star after all!

my only suggestion would be to try scoring the lines first to break the grain of the paper fibers. Use a light touch with something like a fine stylus or a heavy tapestry needle. Listen for a scritching sound and make a thin light line on the vellum but don't press so hard that you break through the paper.

Eh, I'm o.k. with it, even though I violated my #1 rule of thrifting: buy whatever you think might be good, and return it later if it doesn't pan out (my g'will accepts returns within 14 days). I violated the rule, partly because of my DH (sometimes he sends me weird vibes that make me feel strange about a particular thing -- I should know *not* to trust them now, because the things he's doubted the most turn out to be the most amazing, actually--note to self: DH's opinion has negative correlation to value of item LOL)...and I did get the piece that was in perfect condition, so that's good. I love freesia, too, and love the colors...the things people's families toss out!

I love this kitchen!! I love the character and the timelessness with so many of today's great features that we all want. I have been planning a kitchen remodel for what feels like 2 years now and my layout is very similar with the exception to the amount of space you have to the left of your double wall ovens. Thank you for all the detailed pictures as this validates a lot of my current layout choices, especially the corner of your sink wall / cooking wall where I've been back and forth 100 times and where your double ovens are located!!

As Nancy in Mich said, tubs should be installed on a wet mortar bed to support the entire bottom of a tub. The OP says they had special access cut in the closet wall order "to do that mortar"...but that does not sound like a thick mortar bed, which is what is needed. The mortar bed would be put down under the tub before it's installed, which after removing the old tub or shower base should not be a challenge. Some of the comments mention that their tub cracked even though sitting "directly on the concrete basement floor", so that would be what cause the problem in that situation. Tubs are heavy, tubs filled with water are heavier, tubs filled with water and a person are the heaviest of all.
