Are two mirrors in this bathroom too much? PIP

I am am=lmot done remodeling our half bath. We've redone everything, floor, counter, walls, cabinet-yet the thing I have struggled with the most is what to put on the walls!

I bought a picture today for the bathroom and I also bought a mirror that I was going to put in our bedroom, but now I am wondering if it would be ok in the bathroom instead.

So, here is the room before:

and the new mirror that I was thinking of putting over the towel bar:

WDYT? Too much?

I would prefer only one in the bathroom.

hollysprings, thanks for the info. i decided to take the risk anyway because i am too tired to look for a new tile. (I chose all the other tiles to work with this particular color and already installed the floor tiles, sigh...). hopefully i will not regret it later.. knock on wood! kmcg, i had talked to WZ previously and they told me that it was fine to use the crackle tile on the shower walls, just not the floors. at any rate, i can't imagine it could be any worse than marble, which requires some upkeep and sealing, but doesn't prevent people from using it anyhow. but maybe i am just rationalizing my own decision, LOL! FWIW, the vibe crackle tile seems to have a thick and durable glaze over the top and sides, so the surface is completely smooth. i have left my sample tile in a bag with a bunch of stones and other tiles and taken it around with me to various stores and no scratches on it at all, though the bag actually put a huge scratch on my table when i set it down! HTH! zen, one idea i think i am going to do for my shower now, is instead of a panel, do a fat vertical stripe of the arabesque down the wall. if i can find some pics of this design, i will post for you. good luck!

Did you pick a sink yet? I got a kohler impressions(?) sink for my 24" vanity. It's integrated white cast iron. It has a surprising amount of counter space for a 24" vanity top. Nice cute circular sink depression. You can't store anything on it permanently except a soap dispenser, but there is enough room for the little plastic basket I got at bed bath and beyond. Otherwise you can put the plastic basket on the toilet seat. I put a washcloth down to keep from scratching the toilet seat. Mine is painted wood and it does not like water splashed on it either. Make sure your vanity will support the weight of your countertop/sink.

Clear glass shades in a dark bathroom...too much light?

@ptreckel I agree! We learned this the hard way. The Edison bulbs were too dim. We tried brighter Edison bulbs with higher wattage (with clear glass shades), which were harsh on our eyes and made the space unevenly lit and full of shadows. Now we are on the hunt for shades with diffused light.

One hallway bathroom or two small private bathrooms

If they would each be the size of the standard 5x7 bath that used to serve as the only full bath in the house, and it has no negative affect on your budget to have another or negative effect on the bedroom size it would be fine to have two individual baths. If they would end up being cramped or shrinking the bedroom, maybe not. It's not so much that smaller bathrooms are that much more difficult to use, it's that they are a pain to clean. You could also do one ensuite and one hall access...and by the time the older one leaves the younger could move into that bedroom. I would not do a single Jack and Jill or the two sink thing. There are differing parenting styles too, and I know some parents more or less stay out of their teenage kids rooms, so it's possible that ensuite bathrooms in that situation would get really dirty. I once stayed overnight in a guest room last minute that was jack and jill with a kid's bedroom, (kid home) and they had me use the ensuite bathroom in a different kid's bedroom who was gone over that night or two. And the ensuite bathroom was not exactly filthy, but it was not clean or taken care of by a long shot. And they didn't know because they stayed out of their kid's rooms.

I know, I agree. I think I am going to take that shelf down and just have the frame on the wall above the toilet, so its less busy in that corner. I can't figure out why I'm struggling with this! Silly!

I mean its silly that I can't figure it out! :) I have spent hours looking for something that just clicks with me and I still haven't found it. I am so happy with the rest of the room that I don't want to fall flat on this final, important part.

I don't like that new mirror. You have such an eye-pleasing calm look going on in the room (I like the shelf over the toilet and the way you have the picture placed - it's an easy way to switch things for the seasons, summery plants, Xmas decorations - I'd leave it up) but I find that new mirror very jarring to the eye and a little tawdry looking compared to everything else.
I'm not sure about the new picture - that I would have to live with for a bit. Can you set it on a chair in that area and see how you view it as you come around the corner for a few days?

I agree that in that space another mirror is too much - and it really doesn't fit with the decor, as blfenton mentioned. Plus I am not sure people want to stare at themselves while seated on the 'throne'.

I am wondering why the towel bar is on the opposite wall, so far from the sink? I guess I would be inclined to move the towel bar and the pix over it to the spot above the toilet, move the shelf, perhaps adding a pretty plant for softness, to the wall where the towel bar currently resides (but not hung quite as high as the shelf is now).

Art is a subjective thing, but I am not loving the new art piece for the big wall. Something more rounded there, and not framed in black, would be nice to pick up the rounded/oval details on your light fixture, toilet and sink.
