If the beans aren't sufficiently dried, there's a risk of mold.

Since it's only a pound, how about cooking them, packing them up and storing them in the freezer? They'd be a convenient addition to recipes later in the season.

fritzgarden, I'd shell them and let them dry, either in the oven or in a food dehydrator if you have one.

I dried some soldier beans last year what were grown from seeds craftyrn sent me and they made yummy bean soup, but I used my dehydrator.

You should wait to harvest beans when their pods have turned dry and brown and the seeds inside have hardened, but before the pods split open (normally 90 to 100 days from planting).

You don't want them to mold (as readinglady pointed out) because it could contain a dangerous fungus - aflatoxin.

I'd follow readinglady's suggestion because the moisture in the beans will quickly turn to a moldy mess if you shelve them.

You might call your local County Extension Agent and perhaps they have a suggestion for you. Perhaps processing them in a dehydrator, or something.

ah, just remembered. oven has a 140º dehydrate cycle.
I wonder how long that'll take?
I don't have screens for it ........ perhaps parchment?

I'm not sure how well parchment would work. Ideally you'd have a rack for the air to circulate around the beans.
