Attached is the flat weave rug. Colors IRL are much more muted, softer than this pic shows. The middle pic (the corner of rug looks more realistic). I know it could appear that colors may be too bright, but the rest of room will be very neutral. What do you think, folks?

Don't be mad at me but.....I think the rug is too 'tribal' (which is what they call it) and then the curtains that are too flowery....I just don't think they look that good together in the same room. Rug is fine if it goes well with your furniture, I just would get a curtain that didn't have that kind of flower in it. Are you following my thoughts? Or get the curtains and a diff. rug.

Both are very nice on their own, and my mother has the panels in the gold color. I agree with Susan that they just don't belong together. I couldn't tell what the dark border on the rug is, and it's not mentioned in the description.

I found that the link to Country Curtains took me to them in the Pewter color. The Sienna is the last swatch shown - the rust color. I think the rug needs a more 'earthy' panel to blend better with it.

Susan - not mad at all! I appreciate your input. I think I have known in the back of my mind that these drapes were not right (but I sure like the color). I love my rug, so it is a keeper! Will keep looking.

My3dogs - I certainly value your opinions. I too share your love of color and pattern - I just don't know how to make it work like you do! The border on the rug is black, working with with my sage, green, gold floral pillows on black background. Remember sofa and LS are golden beige. Will eventually add a medium-tone brown leather chair. Would you have any recommendations of a drape that YOU would pair with this?? Prefer ready-mades, but not adverse to making them. I can sew - just don't enjoy it. I am not a big fan of tone on tone (but maybe I should be). Perhaps something in the sage green family??

OK, folks, I am trying to "think outside the box" here and go more neutral, yet have a subtle pattern,but I feel I need a touch of red and gold. What do you think about the attached Brookside in Expresso (CC) with my rug. I was not looking for anything in the brown family, but it does have some red and I have loved this drape after seeing Jan in Wisconsin's. I know, rug does not have any brown - but could it work?

Hmmm, I'll put the link below as I didn't see it in your post. Espresso may not pop up, but it is there when you click on 'first choose a color' on the right.

Here's my opinion for what it's worth. It's so hard to tell on monitors, and I am guessing that 'O' rug is not exactly as shown on my screen. But, since the rug has no brown, the beautiful panels wouldn't be my choice.

I LOVE(!) to do pattern on pattern, but am fussy about the color coordination. I have actually hauled a smaller rug than the main one in my LR to a fabric store, and put it up against fabrics til I get the right tones to go with it. I don't know what you have for stores in your area, but I'd be tempted to do my shopping in person, as much as I personally hate to shop!

And I always make my own, so don't know what is out there for ready mades, but I can see a linen, or cotton, and if I was there, I'd really urge you to make them yourself! If you don't line them (the CC ones aren't) it would be so simple and quick! And, you MAY bring your samples with you and find a fabric that you wouldn't have dreamt could be so perfect. It happened to me, and the darn fabric was right in my house for years.

I *love* your choice of draperies, but the rug has too of a casual look for them. my3dogs suggestion of the Espresso is definitely complimentary to the rug, and IMO, would look very nice. Mixing patterns can sometimes be difficult, and even though they may share the same colors, the patterns may fight one another.

My 3 dogs, I love your 'mix'! The pattern and color of the fabric is stunning~would you call it art nouveau? It has a look of the 40's to it. You definitely have a flair for putting things together. ;o)

Patty, I don't know what I'd call the pattern, but I just took this picture of a scrap of it with my LR rug, so you and Tuesday can see how the colors blend. I wasn't trying to get fabric to go with the rug when I bought the fabric years ago. I just discovered it in my stash last week. How lucky could I get?

my3dogs - You are right - the rug is not as "vibrant and bold" IRL as the pic shows. In fact, if it were not for the black border, the colors are more muted/subtle than it shows. In fact, my rug slightly reminds me of your style, just a different color pallette. I lucked out with this rug price wise - Garnett Hill had the same rug for almost $1800 - I found it for a little over $700 at OS. What a deal!

I'm going to keep looking, especially for fabric. I am just so limited with shopping time - but what's the rush? My windows have been bare for a year and a half! I will know it when I see it. I usually know when I get something right - just getting there is the problem.

Hi Rug Buddy!
Since you and I have the same rug, I wanted you to see mine. (I'm still waiting to see yours!) I actually think the rug is more vibrant than it looks on the O site. I already had the curtains, they're kind of an olive green. I agree with the others about the Overleigh curtains. I like the Brookside, but I think the "rose" color might work. I'd get a sample from CC and check it out. I'm not sure I'd like the brown with this rug. The color in the rug isn't a real red and, to me, the rose Brookside looks like the same color.

WOW, even better 'close up'! I thought it was a red also, but looks to be more of a burnt orange in both the fabric and the rug(?). Like Damask is a pattern name, I know your fabric has a name, but for the life of me, can't think of it!

I'm a farbicholic also~4 bins out in the garage. If it's on sale, and I really like it, I just can't pass it up. There's always a 'someday', even though it may come years later. LOL

My, you have a pretty rug (LOL). Thanks for sharing your picture. Your room is put together so nicely; if only I could get that far along. I basically started from scratch and am waiting for drapes before I accessorize. I also need to repaint. When I put my oak flooring down, I went ahead and painted a neutral beige, hoping it would work when I finished the room, but it is too gray/beige for my furnishings. I wanted to choose paint and drapes together (leaning towards Believable Buff to pick up the golden beiges in the rug - by also looking for the right green). What color is your paint - appears to be a green on my monitor. Goes well in your room.

You may be on to something with that Rose Brookside - I seriously looked at it. I am thinking IRL it will be more of a terra-cotta look than rose. I think I will get a swatch - you never know.

Maybe I will get up my nerve to post a pic (if I can figure out how to do it).
