This is a wonderful service to the public and the food is very well packaged containing frozen foods, fruit and pantry goods. I have used the service myself and then later worked with clients and families in an outreach program referring them to this service. It is a nationwide missionary service. it is not based on your income. Food is ordered and paid for in advance, then on the date of delivery, clients just need to bring their paid receipt and at least two large empty boxes or laundry baskets to carry the food home in...

We bought from them a couple of times, but it was not handled well here. Long lines of cars (an hour or more wait time) to pick up the food. There were also things in every order that we just didn't eat.
I think it is great for people who need to stretch a dollar, but we quit doing it.

"It looks like you switched to the Dyna grow 9-3-6 last year. Do you still use CRF in your soil mix if you are still using this fert?" Actually, I rarely use the CRFs at all. I like the near complete control the soluble fertilizers give me in containers. I'm pretty diligent about fertilizer applications, so I really don't need the CRFs to cover the 'in case I forget' base, or for any minor elements they might supply. I included them in the soil recipes to make it easier for others. As long as you're faithful to your nutrient supplementation program, you can easily do w.o them. If you think you'll be lax at times, I'd include them. 109 ppm alkalinity is nothing to be overly concerned about with fast container soils. It would be interesting to learn how the Ca and Mg levels are though. Alkalinity is related to pH because alkalinity (practically speaking and for our applications) determines your water's resistance to pH changes. If you have water 'A' at a pH of 9.0 with an alkalinity of 75 mg/L CaCO3, and water 'B', with a pH of 8.0 (a full point lower to begin with) and alkalinity of 300 mg/L CaCO3, it will take about 4 times as much 35% H2SO4 (sulfuric acid) to bring the water with the lower pH down to That aside - your water is better than mine, so I really doubt you'll have Fe/Mn issues if you're using either the 9-3-6 or MG. I will say though, that bark/peat soils have a potentially high Fe:Mn ratio, so applying Fe w/o Mn could easily create a deficiency of Mn. If I were in your shoes, I would do nothing until I actually saw evidence of an Fe deficiency. Then, I would acidify. Oh - the other likely cause of an Fe deficiency is too much P, which combines with the Fe to form an insoluble precipitate, so avoid the high P fertilizers - they are useless unless you are using them to supply the exact amount of P needed while intentionally (severely) limiting N. I used this strategy last year: I fertilized with regular dosages of 9-3-6 until the plants were well established. I then cut way back on the dosage and added ProTeKt to the solution. I rather like to envision that I used the added K (and got the benefit of the added silicon) to change the fertilizer ratio to 3:1:3 from a 3:1:2. This allowed me to reduce the dosage of N (reducing vegetative growth) while still having adequate P and K. Take care. Al

The Lido Restaurant is super casual. You can take three meals a day there, no dress code. Shorts are OK in the main dining room for lunch, but never flip flops. If you want to not wear a shirt, then the burger grill/hispanic buffet/pizza counter are all by the pool and open noon until 6:00 every day. All those places are have food included in your fare. Likewise, room service is no charge (a tip is traditional for that) with a decent menu. Room service is 24 hours. Princess Cruise lines has an "International Cafe" that is open 24 hours and they have a good selection of items that are appropriate for the hour. All other venues have posted hours. Some cruise lines have pizza available 24 hours. None do the midnight buffets as used to happen 25+ years ago.

RB, I am sure the recipe you made was the real thing. I called it bastardised because, as the story was told to me, an Indian or Bangladeshi chef based in Britain had a customer demand sauce with his chicken tikka (which is chicken that has been marinated and then grilled and is traditionally served without sauce), and made up a creamy sauce to serve it in, creating a dish that has traditional Indian ingredients but has been adapted to British palates. It took several years before it actually reached India, so while it is similar to traditional Indian curries it is really an Anglo-Indian dish based on the traditional chicken tikka.

AR.girl, we do pickup from the store because Covid isn't real in my state. :) I'll get some at Walmart when I place an order, it's a 15 min. drive to and 15 drive back. Never had this problem until this summer. Cooper, do you mean from Chewy? I'll check it in a bit. I checked tracking for the Temptations. Amazon says the package may be lost. I tracked it from USPS tracking and it's had this status for a couple of days now. It shipped from Tulsa, we're outside OKC. Now how hard is it to lose the package?? I'm not canceling yet. Weren't they just in the news, because the family running the rganization has been accused of corruption or mismanagement? It's so sad, when someone involved with something supposed to help the poor, uses that as an opportunity to make a fortune for themselves. I was wondering when I saw that, what it boded for the future of the group. Anyone know if it's going to impact the future of Angel Food ministries?

The elementary school has been including this and other food bank type organizations in the newsletters they send out every week. I know someone who said she tried it and there were a few substitutions of foods and also some things they wouldn't eat. I think if you need the food that sometimes you have to accept what is available. If it helps you to keep your family fed until you can get back on your feet, then it is worth it.

They have had some "problems" recently.

"The FBI and IRS searched Angel Food Ministries last week, but the agencies got a judge to seal documents associated with the nonprofit.

Angel Food sent out an e-mail to churches saying they believe the agencies are investigating individuals associated with it, and not the nonprofit. A public relations firm hired by Angel Food has declined to answer questions."

We get this food every month. This is not only for people who are poor or 'on relief'. My inlaws get it as it is easier than going to the store weekly for them. They get 1 or 2 regular boxes a month and that holds them pretty well. They live in NJ and this way if there is a storm and they can't get out, they have food in the house.

There are a few things that we don't eat,( like the dried black beans) but they get donated to the food bank locally.

They have a chicken fajita meat that I couldn't figure out how to prepare. Let me tell you, it makes the best chicken salad ever. Seasoned just right.

The fruit and vegetable box is a real bargain for the price they charge. You get a nice selection of fruits.

I purchase 2 regular boxes and a fruit and vegetable box nd a meat special every month. this really helps spread out our food dollars. I can plan our months meals around this order of food and know exactly what I have on hand.

The substitutions we have gotten were never 'bad'. For example, this month they substituted cereal for the peanut butter you were supposed to get. Once we got spinich instead of green beans.

All in all to feed our family of three, this really is helpful. My son jokes that we have steak an alful lot now.
