Welcome Golddust.. My name is Susie and I live in Central Indiana. I have been married 42 years. We have 3 children and 8 grandkids. They all live within 30 minutes from us. We have lived in our home 39 years. We, also, are do-it-yourselfers. We have remodeled over the years. I have always been a stay at home mom but did daycare for almost 30 years in our home. This is the first school year I have not had kids.

Larry retired 3 years ago and we are really enjoying it. Before he retired we built a new barn for him to be able to piddle in and stay out of my hair from time to time. We also have a home in the southern part of our state that we enjoy going to. It has an old schoolhouse on it and we redid it it, too. We never take anything for granted because you never know when something can happen. We just try to live one day at a time..

My aunt lives in Clay City, my grandmother in Brazil. Uncle's in Indianapolis. You get the picture. I was raised in California with Indiana values.

I live in Northern Ca. My husband and I have been married 33 years and we live on 2 1/2 acres. We're both retired. We have one grown son. He and his wife live near by so we get to enjoy our grandchildren, a boy almost two and a girl almost five. I enjoy reading, writing and doing porcelain painting. Another hobby I enjoyed doing in the past was making stained glass projects.

We hope to begin a kitchen renovation in a few months.

I'm a Hoosier too! Northeastern, Lake Wawasee. We live just about a block from the lake!
My husband and I have been married for almost 26 years, together for 30! We have two beautiful grown daughters and a wonderful 4 yearold granddaughter!
I've been a stay at home mom and now I'm a stay at home grandma! Our little one is here during the week so that she can go to preschool. We love it!

I crochet, do paper crafts and I paint a little. Right now I'm in the middle of redoing and entire bedroom set for our granddaughter! Lots of pink!

Your house looks so homey, so inviting. It says come on over for coffee and a chat. And such a nice looking guard dog. Will he let me in?

I never heard of the town Grass Valley. That name sounds pleasant.

Hi - I'm from Minnesota. I've actually been to Grass Valley. We stayed in a B&B right in town.

My DH's cousin used to live in Grass Valley....beautiful area.

Hello golddust, and welcome! We're in Central Texas on a small farm that we bought three years ago. Loved moving from town to peace and quiet! We have gardens, vegetable, herb and flower, bee hives, chickens, and more work than we can handle. Talk about a work in progress! We've been married 38 years, which is a testament to what a fine man my husband is. I, too, love to cook and bake bread, can and freeze our veggies, and "work in the dirt" every chance I get.

Welcome to the forum. I think you'll really enjoy this forum the most. Folks here just seem more homey then on some of the other forums IMHO.

I love your kitchen! Biggest mistake I made when we remodeled our current house was going with a double bowl sink versus a single. I'm still kicking myself for being talked into getting it instead of a single. Oh well, live and learn.

Grass Valley is in the Gold Country of CA for those not familar with the area. There is a ton of history in the area. I am 3rd generation CA and my grandparents lived in the Petaluma area many many years ago. We have done much traveling and camping all over CA. We had thought of buying there at one time but no work in hubby's field. Glad you are posting--keep us in touch with the events during the spring, summer and fall. Use to be great crafts and homemade stuff.

Hi Golddust. I have been to Grass Valley,I think I camped near there once. I have friends in a gated community that have a Penn Valley post office address. I moved to Iowa 4 years ago from Santa Rosa, CA. I miss those mountains that you live in. Other than missing the mountains, I love Iowa with it's friendly folks, clean air and very low crime rate. We don't have to deal with traffic here.

I am 59, retired, live in small town south of Richmond VA, with my DH and two Boxers, Bella and Sasha. I am not much of a cook, my DH does most of it, says he enjoys cooking. I can bake a batch of brownies for the kitchen table though.

I've been married for almost 25 yrs. and have one dd who is 14 (going on 20 as they say). I worked as a Physical Therapist Asst. for many yrs. and am now working as a Teacher's Asst. I love animals and every stray seems to find my house and it gets me to posting here for help and suggestions many times! I scrapbook, stamp a little, crotchet and we love hiking. I love cooking and baking and collect cookbooks and cooking magazines. I found GW while searching for information when we remodeled our kitchen almost 3 yrs. ago. Some of the best advice and suggestions during our project I got from the awesome people there. Saved lots of money, too! Glad to know you!

Wow! You all sound so interesting. I am amazed by how many people know where Grass Valley is. I live rurally, kind of toward the Lake Tahoe side of the state.

I found GW when we were re-doing our kitchen and I am forever recommending the various forums to everyone I know. Jenava, how funny can you be? Like we all have such important things to talk about. You are suck a goof to think you have nothing to add. It's people like you who generally have way more to say than the rest of us who are talking. Just try us out!

OK I live in Cen,Texas now how strang is that!I live on the Llano river in Llano and yes it has been raing for days but we need it soooooooooo bad.I am retired. Been in sales most and then did flowers for the last few years .I love it but my health is not good so I retired for a while The other 2 where are you all in CT.?I love mosaics I do all kind of teess.I love safty glass the most not as hard to break and so many ways to use it .I have been selling my cross at a new forest in town .Doing real good .

Secsteve! Funny you mention my sink. We kept our old cabinets but we had one of those pull down drawers in front of our sink that was gross. In order to take it out and hide the hole, we were forced to do that exact sink. Frankly, I miss the shape of my old sink. It had a large side and a small disposer side. I don't miss my yucky drawer though. Maybe if my kitchen was large enough to have a prep sink, a single sink would make more sense, so don't go crying over a large sink to me. I'd be willing to trade. LOL!

Our house is like the Golden Gate Bridge. Just when we seem to get it fixed up, we must start over again. There is still some very funky parts of it but of course I don't photograph that part. :+) We'll never sell it because it will never be finished. Our family room had carpet padding for flooring for 3 years. (I recommend the coated padding as it really held up.:+) We finally installed wood, right before Xmas.

This is our latest DIY project. I call this my 'Happy Bathroom'. You will meet Aimee, my DD, being a goof.

Yoo hoo golddust ~ Welcome to the other side LOL. I'm Nora from mid New York State. I've been married for 20 years and we have a 26 yo DS. DH and I got together when Eli was a little over 4 years old and we married when he was six. There is definitely truth in nurture vs. nature because they are like two peas in a pod ;o)

We live on 7 idyllic acres in a small hamlet in southern Dutchess County with our pug, Tootie, and kitties Bitsy and Bundles. DS and his GF live in a cottage on our property, which is a blessing. We love to renovate anything that isn't nailed down and it seems that we're in a constant state of flux (no pun intended considering your metier). We also love to garden, which we do with fervor, though not always with as much success as we'd like. The earth tells us what it needs and most of the time we pay attention. But when we don't we learn early on that we should have listened to Mother Nature.

Hope it is okay for another newbie to post on Golddust's posting. I'm Mary and I live in Central Florida, right between Tampa and Orlando. I have been married nearly 40 years to my high school sweetheart. We have one grown son. He and his wife gave us our precious grandson Asher James, this past June. I am a retired kindergarten teacher of 22 years. My hobbies are butterfly and hummingbird gardening. I've been on GW for a number of years, mostly on the gardening sites but came over to the home sites when we started remodeling our house last year.

Welcome to the Kt! I've been to Grass Valley, long time ago, just drove to it and turned around and headed back to NV, where I grew up mostly.

I'm now in central KY. Divorced, 2 kids, 2 dogs. Love the color of the bath, that is something close to what I want to paint my livingroom this year. I've also been seriously thinking of saving up for a major remodeling of my house. I want a bigger kitchen with a sitting area and somewhere I can put my computer, get it out of my tiny livingroom. I'm thinking of turning my sunroom into an addition.

My bathroom color is Restoration Hardware's (something)... blue. Can't remember the exact name but they still carry it. It starts with an 'A'. OK, I admit I used their color sample and color matched it with another brand.

I just painted my family room Restoration Hardware 'Silver Sage' and I love that color! My kitchen is painted silver sage too but it looks different in different light. Silver sage looks good with any color, I swear. That is the same room that had carpet padding for flooring for 3 years. The paint (before) was a filthy cardboard color. I still haven't hung the pictures. I've hardly been home, it seems.

Hello Golddust- I LOVE Grass Valley! My parents and older brother lived in Meadow Vista before I was born. My dad transfered to the Bay Area, where I grew up, but kept the house up there. I grew up running back and forth between there and Concord. Those foothills are one if my favorite areas. The elevation is perfect for me. We have a close friend in Navada City we visit when we can.

So let's see- I am Danielle or Dani, married to a firefighter, we have two boys 13 and almost 15- I was a paramedic but I have been a stay at homer since second son was born. I grew up in Concord, moved to the Santa Cruz Mountains for ten years and now live in the Central Valley near Modesto. I'll be 42 in May.

LOL- I can't think of anything else to say! And I'm usually so chatty.
