Bird Lover - First I check the marked down banged up sections at Marshall's, TJ Maxx, Home Goods etc. for black ones. It's easy to take take a black sharpie to the dings and cover them up. Then I head to my local IKEA for white or brown ones (I justed started using frames other than black) as well as black ones if I don't have the correct sized black one on hand. Whenever I come across a cheap gallery frame and I have a few extra bucks on hand I buy it and store it. Years of doing this has given me quite an on-hand selection. I used an IKEA poster sized frame for my wedding picture and had Michaels cut a custom mat and frame it for me during one of their sales. The total cost for frame and having Michaels do everything else was $60: Bronwynsmom - Oops! I'm looking to possibly do my LR lampshades in a blue and white pattern. I saw something similar in last months HB where they used a patterned ginger jar lamp and topped it w/ a patterned pleated shade and it looked great. I know that it would be easier to find a solid blue lamp shade but I don't want a blue cast in the room. cbfromga, Are you going for a retro look somewhere? LWO, Me too..love 'em. My eyes practically popped out of my head when I first clicked on the link. I was about to give up Googling for modern, affordable swag or pendants. Found lots of them of $500 each. So, these shades seemed a bargain to me! I have always loved this kind of shade. I have one from an antique store that was only $40. The lampshade is in the shape of a curved peanut. I may order my fixtures after I get my new built-ins.

I took my antique capidomonte lamp to a lamp/shade store. The owner is an expert in that sort of thing. I was leaning towards a bigger shade, and she said you want the lamp to be the focus, not the shade. She helped me pick out a new finial as well. The old one is bakelite.

What terms did you use when you tried searching for that lamp? I used double-gourd, crystal/glass, conical fluted/ribbed shade... If all else fails and you just can’t find it, try reaching out to these people: Italian Lighting Centre. They’re an on-line only retailer, based out of Wales, and even though that lamp isn’t on their site (believe me, I looked through every single table lamp category), they may know it. And if they aren’t able to identify it, chances are they know someone who is. And if that is a dead-end, they can have something very similar to it made just for you...in Italy. And that appears to be a glass shade, btw. ;)
