I did make for my DS, mac and cheese, from scratch, as his DW thinks the only mac and cheese is from the BLUE BOX :O)

Walmart's meat is horrible. I can't even stand to look it it in those little trays they put it in. Reminds me of dissecting trays. Even their hamburger is tough and tasteless.

can you put it in a crockpot early tomorrow? I always take the liquid out as it slowcooks, and I swear a shoe would come out tender that way.

I will buy some meats from WM (very few) but I think their beef steaks/roast are horrible beyond anything fixing them.

No crockpot, but I think I have doctored it, so it might be eatable.

We must have an exceptional meat dept. at our Walmart. We always buy their meat and it's always wonderful. Much better tasting than Kroger or Publix.

I've heard a lot of complaints about Wal-Mart meat. I find the frozen to be ok, but buy the non-frozen elsewhere.

I will not buy meat at WM,no way! Can't stand the smell of their hamburger when it's cooking and it looks like little worms.LOL DD lives in OK and buys meat at WM all the time.It does actually taste and smell fine.Don't know what the deal is because I think all WM meat is packaged somewhere and sent to all the stores already packaged.I know ours doesn't cut or package it here anymore.

I noticed Walmart has a lot of processed, pre-bagged meat and odd brands I've never heard of. I don't buy it, but I do shop at Walmart for the bargains about once every few months.

I won't buy anymore roasts from Walmart because last Sunday I did a Chuck Roast I'd bought there and it was tasteless! I've cooked for way over 40 years and always had good luck with a Chuck Roast! In fact, the roast didn't even taste like beef at all!! Makes you wonder! Hmmmmmmm!!

What's that saying, "Life's Too Short, Eat Dessert First"....
And with the dessert you are serving I'd be just as pleased skipping the main meal all together!

First time I bought meat at Sam's here, I was pleasantly surprised that it was good. As the national chains have bought out the local chains here, the quality of the meat has gone downhill. For meat for special occasions, I go to the local butcher. Perhaps it is time to buy all my meat at the local place and support them.

Was it a pork roast...or a pork tenderloin? If it had a national brand on it, I am willing to bet it was the cut of meat. I have never had good luck roasting a tenderloin. I grill them with fair success. They are either extremely dry or totally tasteless. I have tried every way of cooking them I can think of. The best way to use them that I have found is slice them into medallions, pound them out and make breaded, fried pork tenderloin sandwiches or smoke them for hours on the smoker.

My family is less than thrilled when they see a pork tenderloin, roasted, sliced and plated for dinner. LOL

Take last night. I had one...which was actually two pieces. I browned them in a skillet, with a ton of seasonings. Then I tied them back together with string. In between the two pieces, I stuffed garlic, onion, celery and those "Cuties" (tangerines? or mandarin oranges?). I mixed pineapple orange juice, some seasonings and brown sugar to make a glaze. I roasted it for a few hours (or more) on 200 degrees. Guess what? Dry as a bone. Sad thing is...I have another larger one in the freezer. LOL

I have it in the oven heating and doctored up!

After it's fully reheated and done, I'll shred it and serve it in the gravy. Should work.

Pork tenderloin is nearly always packaged with two inside....and tenderloin I think is dry and tasteless no matter where you buy it...I've never had any bad meat from Wal-Mart...I buy lots of meat at Albertsons because they use meat as their loss leaders and I buy it on sale. I probably have 25 pounds of chicken breasts in my freezer that I bought on sale for either 99 cents per pound or $1.68 per pound. If you want a piece of meat that has some taste...It has to have some fat on it...

Glenda, sounds to me like you need to complain to the manager. It shouldn't have been injected with water with a bunch of fat stuffed in it. I buy very little meat at WM because I have a whole beef in my freezer, but I do buy at Sams on occasion. I've never had a problem with it, and I would think it all comes from about the same places. In fact, that's about the only place I buy whole pork loins to cut into chops and roasts. I either smoke the whole thing, or stuff chops or the roast. Best pork roast I've done is stuffed with stove top stuffing with dried cranberries added, browned and placed in a covered stone baker, at 350° until an instant read thermometer reads 165°. I put carrots and celery and onions on the bottom of the baker, and don't add any liquid.

When the pork council decided to make pork the other white meat they ruined it. A few years ago we split a hog with a friend, it was wonderful! Wish the farmer was still around.

I agree with WalMart meat, it is flavorless. I buy my meat from a small local grocer, they have only 3 stores but they have wonderful butchers.

Almost all the meat I have bought from Wal-Mart is not good, unless it is a national brand (Tyson's, etc.) They had a good deal the other day on Ground Chuck. Like a dummy, I bought 4 big packages of 3 lbs each. Cooked up 2 and froze the other 2. I made a meat loaf, hamburger patties and a dish called Keema. The meat had lots of gristle and pieces of bone. I never have that problem when I shop at regular grocery stores, except for Food Lion. I don't know who their supplier is, but I have learned my lesson.

why does wal mart not use the same butchers as sam's? say could you shred it and use for bbq?

Lunch was fine! Meat had a good flavor after I doctored it. Served it in the gravy.

DS and wife took leftovers home. Told her to shred it, mixed with the gravy and serve over toast. She thought that sounded great.

No bbq, gravy ended up good.

We had Paula Deen's blondie chewies with vanilla ice cream,for dessert, and sat in front of a fire in the fireplace, to end a good day.

Glad you saved your roast. What did you do to make it edible? (I have a pork tenderloin the the freezer so I may need your advice!)

Susan, I heard the butchers at WalMart tried to unionize, so WalMart got rid of them and gets their meat pre-cut. Don't know if it's true, but I know the pork chops are horrid. They have a spongy texture that is just weird.
Sam's club seems to have good meat. And we don't mind WalMart's beef, but don't buy their pork.

I buy a LOT of pork tenderloin, vacuum packed either singly or in pairs. It's always juicy and tender. I cut each in two and freeze in single-dinner portions..marinate however I please for 2-3 hours and bake at 450 until the meat thermometer reads 145 (20-30 minutes). Then it rests for 10-15 minutes under a foil tent and a clean towel..then it's sliced and served with the chosen sauce. Half of a tenderloin serves the two of us very well with no leftovers. We don't eat much meat, but this is my "go to" and always delicious.
