Have you priced doors yet? We've been pricing them for the past two years since we desperately need ours replaced. More glass = more expense. If expense isn't an issue, my point is moot. Also, if you are doing doubles versus the single with sidelites, you will be talking a custom size which may cost even more. On top of that, unless you go with a very well made door, the glass may not be warrantied for as long and the insulating levels will be less. In shopping for doors, Provia has an excellent warranty on their door AND glass, most others like Therma-Tru have very limited warranties on their glass; it's a read the fine print type of thing. The downside is Provia is a higher priced than Therma-Tru and only sold through dealers who install the doors themselves. I live in a center hall colonial in New England, I don't think double doors fit my house style or my neighborhood. I've lived in homes with them in the past and when they are full sized, double doors, they are indeed quite nice to have. Do you have a standard 36" door with 12" sidelites? Your double doors would be two 30" doors. Privacy would be a concern unless you covered the windows or opted for designer glass. With the expense, be sure you truly want what you think you want, consider all the changes, before going that route.

so I have been staring at front doors all night, and one thing I found that I wanted to bounce off the brain trust here was that I think I like the look of the overall entryway being wider. There is a glimpse of that effect in the renderings above due to the addition of sidelights...but I think that the simplicity of not having sidelights, and instead getting width from a double front entry door has a pleasing look that while enhancing the curb appeal, still looks simple and understated (and in doing so blends with the house). here was one I tried to photoshop onto our house...let me know what you think. I didnt go out of my way to pick that door color, it was just a nice looking (and simpleish) double front door with white trim and a basic (but wider than my current) step so I gave it a shot... If anyone is up for some photoshopping, I am curious how a double front door setup like this would look with a gray door (similar to the single color maybe?) or a red/orange door like in the prior photos... If we go this route I will have to see if phantom screens work on a double opening :) appreciate the landscaping you have added into your renderings as well, and I definitely want to remove/replace what we have now...but we are a less is more kind of family I think when it comes to maintaining landscaping so I can't imagine installing (or keeping up with) that impressive spread you have in your picture celerygirl. Yardvark's suggestion is probalby more our speed..

The yellow is pretty. Another option that works well with the gray and black is a raspberry color like SW Cerise. A dusty plum can be pretty as well. This is SW Plum Dandy.

absolutely no shutters. Why muddle up the look of the exterior when he already has 2 siding colors, with 2 diff siding materials, brick, white trim and a charcoal/greenish roof? here. does this look good? (give me a pic straight on and I'll photoshop something better, but it still won't look good! for the front door, He might try looking for a deep olive green with some bronze undertones Like this color on the left replacing the bright bench w/a wood verision, and getting some numbers clearly displayed. you'll have to enlarge this to see everything He could always paint that white one, add some colorful outdoor pillows. I also like all of these wood and copper accents, along w/these paint colors, address plaque, and even a slight limewash on the brick I know you said he doesn't want to paint. but a very light limewash w/Romabio would give this similar effect. (AND, if will completely wash off within 72 hours if he doesn't like it. there is no upkeep w/this, it's natural liime and will patina w/time. Just a suggestion) could also go darker w/the Urbane Bronze, Iron Ore, or one of those dark bronze/black tones Or, maybe you want to go w/a brick color front door. maybe a door w/some lites in them rather than solid this door style might be nice. you could even have smaller glass panels.
