What's wrong with my beans and peas???
Comments (6)Well, step one of diagnosing any problem is to rule out nutrient deficiency, which is unlikely in a legume, however a nice shot of fertilizer would be a good way to rule out color problems. Second, we don't know any of the specifics around how your plants are doing, other than that you sprayed them. How long have they been out in the sun, did you start them there, or are they trans plants? What is your soil like? is it rich or depleted clay? or something else? Why did you spray them? Leaf weavers? did you apply it at the proper rate? (I FREQUENTLY have a problem of overapplying... not trying to judge others by myself, just sayin)...See MoreYikes, did I spray the wrong thing on my Strawberries?
Comments (1)lily: What I'd do is remove all fruit currently on the plants. Any fruit that develops later will likely be safe. To be sure we'd need to know the active ingredient. Next time you might try wrapping the plants in floating row cover material or something similar to exclude the beetles. That's what I did earlier this year when June bugs attacked newly budded cherry. It worked fine....See MoreNot much of a crop... what did I do wrong?
Comments (17)CT, All of my plants hit the slow route for quite some time. I haven't posted pics of my garden in awhile because everything has germinated, but not much has really put on a growth spurt. However, I noticed this morning that my eggplant, green pepper, cukes, watermelon and cantaloupe have started producting flowers. I almost pulled the eggplant and green pepper three weeks ago since each had produced one or two small fruit and then did nothing for about a month. I kept reading others talking about their harvest and was frustrated, but I figured I can't replant those spaces until September, so I may as well let the plants grow and see if they do anything and they have! I'd add some more dirt/compost to the areas where your tomato roots are showing and watch the soil closely. I check my raised beds daily, then water only the beds that don't feel damp to my finger. Since we've had a lot of rain in the last couple of weeks, I haven't had to water in almost three weeks. Sometimes the best garden amendment is patience on our part. I'm a novice gardener as well, so I'm really getting a kick out of eating things that I've planted from a little tiny seed. If you, like me, need affirmation that you will eventually get food from those plants, try planting some radishes. They grow so fast that it's a treat just to watch them grow! They taste purty good, too, as my granny would say! :)...See MoreArtisan Bread in 5 - What Did I Do Wrong??
Comments (14)I forgot to say that I let the dough do its final rise on parchment and lift it by the corners and put it into the preheated cast iron pot. I also use a smaller cast iron piece - either my 2 1/2 quart oval or my 4 quart oval. I've also successfully baked it in a covered clay Rommertopf baker. Individual loave/rolls baked on a stone. In a clay baker. Cinnamon Rolls Grilled Pizza Basic White Except for the loaf with some whole wheat flour, all were made with the basic recipe. Now if you have a way to keep popovers from turning out like hockey pucks at this altitude, please tell me - I'm totally unsuccessful with them. Lee...See Morelindac
