Thats my set-up! I angled the TV entertainment center across the corner -- which meant covering up one of the "sections" of the large window that overlooks the back patio. And that arrangement has worked GREAT for us for years!

I have only one corner for my television in my old home too. Below is a link to show you how it looks. It would be great to have a corner armoire, but I used what I had, which was an old paint cabinet that I bought from my old landlord for $5.00. I have windows, french doors and single doors on every wall in here, so unfortunately I can't do much re-arranging.

This is a corner in my upstairs gameroom (aka the kids room). There is a huge window to the right of it, fireplace on the left. The only empty wall is the one directly across from it, where the sofa goes. The fourth wall is more of a walk way to my husband's office, and it has these huge openings that look down to the dining room and foyer.

The only way we could make this work was to order cabinet fronts and build an entertainment center around the tv, at a kind of weird angle.

Beausoleil, I love that old painted cabinet! Looks like you made the best of that one, good job. Your colors are similar to what I'm doing too, so I enjoyed seeing your room. Wish I had all that gorgeous wood work!

Good luck. We had the same problem. It was either in the corner or over the fireplace. We chose the corner. The room is long, but fairly wide. The only problem is in the morning you get some glare from the morning sun, but it is not too bad because the doors open to a partially covered deck. Seating can be a little tricky...we ended up with a wedge shaped sofa and a chair. I don't watch much TV, but my family does and they wanted comfortable seating. The room is also open to the kitchen (this is a vacation home on the ocean and everything is pretty casual). I'll try to post pics from several angles so you can get an idea. The best thing is the TV does not dominate the room, but it is available to those who care to watch it.

I just saw your post Daisy. I like how you built around the TV, and it turned out very nice looking. Finding solutions for all these doors and windows and pathways and openings sure is hard!

I appreciate seeing all the different views, that helps a lot. We'd also have to put ours next to windows, and I'd have to deal with configuring two seating areas (one for FP).

Can I ask where you plug in the lamp sitting between the two white chairs? Is it a floor outlet?

Thanks..we enjoy it very much. We have lots of family, and this has turned out to be the one place where everyone is willing to come from far and wide to spend some time and reconnect. The table you see is actually a game table (we play lots of games, cards, and jigsaw puzzles). The kitchen (which you can't see) has a table (also open to this room), but it is rectangular (and although I love round dining tables, it just would not work with this house). In this house, if you want privacy, you have to go to your bedroom or walk on the beach...the public rooms are just that... public. We did try to break it up into separate areas with seating..harder than it sounds in books and magazines (LOL).
There are floor outlets by the lamps...a suggestion of the electrician's for which I am very grateful.

Our room has only two walls, as it's a great room design. This corner is the only place to put the TV, and DH insists on having a huge TV. He just bought this plasma TV a couple months ago, so it's just resting on blocks of wood until he gets around to building a cabinet for it and the other components.

That's my setup - 1 wall Fireplace, 1 wall windows, open to kitchen eating area facing fireplace - that left one wall/corner for TV! Works for us, just limits my furniture placement a bit.

This is an old picture - we have different furniture now, but it's the best photo I have of my entertainment unit.

This is obviously the "before" picture - this is how the previous owners of my old house had it when they put it on the market, and I never got any "after" pictures after we moved in and painted and redecorated. But I wanted you to see the layout of our room, and describe where we had the TV.

In the foreground, you can see the half-wall between this room and the breakfast room. Obviously, they had the TV on that wall. The fireplace is just outside the bottom-left corner of the photo, angled in the corner of the room. The kitchen is to the right and very open to the living room. We practically only had one wall, the wall where you see the loveseat. But we didn't want the TV there because of glare coming through the windows. We had it in the corner where the blue chair is. We just had it on a low TV stand. The couches were actually angled in the room - one parallel to the TV, so you were watching it straight on, and one at 90 degrees to the first couch.

This setup worked because I like the idea of not having a huge entertainment center. It also worked because you could see the TV very well from the kitchen.

Kdsg - I hope you were able to keep those snazzy turquoise mini blinds :)

I'm in about the same boat. This corner is really the only place I can put my TV with the windows and fireplace.

Love all the pics! Brpinson, ate to hijack the thread but would love to know what kind of game table you have? I have been searching high and low for one and I love yours!!

It's by Thomasville...Ernest Hemingway Borana Lodge Table. My husband picked it out. I didn't really like it because it had casters on it and it was a little more formal looking than I wanted for this area (although I think the table is beautiful, just wasn't exactly what I had in mind). Lucky for him, one of the wheels on one of the casters was broken and he got it for about 2/3 off and then just removed the other 3 wheels when we got home. I'm pretty sure they still make it, although we got it 3 years ago.
