help! small budget for small kitchen remodel! pics

Here's my new house! My new kitchen! The drawers are wobbly and dirty inside. I need new cabinets. I also want to open up the walls to make the kitchen more open. Pass-throughs? A bar? What can I do with the wall that won't be expensive? Completely open to feedback!

First you need to determine if it's a bearing wall. Either way, cost will be a factor. If not load bearing, you'd be looking at new cabinets, countertops, and perhaps matching the flooring some. You could make it a half wall adding some storage along there; but I see you have a heat thing (sorry... Floridan here so not sure what you call it) coming out of the floor along that wall. That may need to be revented then. BUt if you could, with storage along that wall you can do an over-hang to give it a more open look.

I love the sink and 2 work well for me, I am planning on removing the ugly popcorn by next month.

You did a great job. I love your color choices. The silestone is beautiful! Can I ask, was your backsplash DIY? We planned on doing a subway tile backsplash, too. And when we priced the tile at 19 cents, I never dreamed it could be THAT much, yikes. I know there's grout, tile cutter renting, etc. We may rethink our backsplash, cause our budget is TINY.

I just wanted to thank everybody for all your lovely and encouraging comments! It's great doing a remodel (me and my husband both think it's kind of sad we're done with the kitchen as we had so much fun and would love to do another one at some point!) and of course it's nice to see the improvements. But it's also really nice to have other people see it and recognize all those details which we really love, such as the subway tile all the way up to the ceiling and the diagonal checkerboard floor. Small bathroom, small budget, big irritation, big plea for help

I think we're going to have to have an electrician come in and rewire the house or something. The bathroom, the two fan lights in the kitchen, and the lights in the main room in the basement go out all the time. Doesn't matter what kind of bulbs we put in there, they burn out. Yet the light over the sink is on pretty much 24/7 and it's been replaced like once in 16 years. For the last long while, we quit buying the "good" bulbs b/c if we get three months out of them, that's a good length of time for us, but the cost is outlandish to replace that often for bulbs that rarely are used. The cabinet door goes to shelving in the hall. If we didn't have the shelving, we'd lose quite a bit of storage, so we can't take the shelves out to put a hamper in there.

Look up your plans with the city, ask a structural engineer, or open the wall toward the top and see if there's some kind of header. We did the last thing but were certain it was a bearing wall anyway cause years ago it was an exterior wall (which we knew)
