I have seen quite a bit about the slide in range but I haven't been able to find much about the freestanding range. I would like to know if anyone has the range and if they are happy. I am also interested to know of any issues, especially the circuit board errors that seem to be a significant problem with the slide in model. I love the configuration of the burners and the oven size but I can't seem to find many reviews. Thanks!

No problems with my E'lux induction range; ordered in June and installed in September of 2010, so about 22 months now. No service problems after the install. Did not get an extended warranty. Control panel has been fine. I think once or twice, while cleaning, it got "stuck"; if that happens, just shut off the circuit breaker for a while and when power returns its fine; this hasn't happened in ages. Water spilled on the glass surface does not get past the rubber gasket surround, so far as I can seen. I believe there were changes in the electronics/programming for the control panel sometime between March and June 2010 (when mine was built). They may have corrected some issues in early models then (along with changing how the timer displays >60 min. as hrs:min). [The built date is on the inside left wall, hidden by the closed main oven door.] Very happy with induction, as are most here. I rely on my Miele speed oven for most baking, because its smaller and heats up very quickly, but when I've used the larger E'lux oven its been fine. I've only used the smaller E'lux oven for warming plates and things like that. Some who expected to use the lower oven as a "real" second oven did complain about various perceived limitations (very little height in there, floor gets too hot, etc.).

I don't know about the 5F. The condition you describe sounds just like what happens when the Range is "Locked." On the extreme left of the control panel is a "Lock" Icon with a 3 in it. Is it possible that someone rested their hand on that for 3 seconds? Unlocking the Control Panel & the oven door requires pressing that Icon for 3 seconds also. Good Luck. I have had mine for two & a half years now with no problems. I frequently lock mine when not in use. Even though my two cats "know" not to get up there, they might "forget" when I'm not around. Another safe guard would be to not leave any pans or kettles on the surface when not in use. This way, even if a surface unit was accidentally turned on, nothing would happen. It actually wouldn't even go On with nothing there.

We love this range.... & would buy it again! As with every new appliance, there are new things to become familiar with.... the induction cooktop is very straight-forward (and we had used an induction plate prior to buying this range, so induction wasn't a new concept to us), but the oven seems to maintain more humidity than my old one, but I have learned to use convection more since I last posted... so for things that i want a drier or crisper result, I use the convection option, or open the door a bit to let the extra moisture/steam out. I haven't found it takes noticeably longer to preheat than my old self-cleaning oven, but I see others have complained of this. The oven interior is slightly smaller than my old one, but I've gotten used to that, too, now. I recently used the bread-proof setting which worked like a charm. If I had a wish list, I would put a small hob at the front, since I use the small hobs a lot, and if you are stirring or tending the pot, it is nice not to have to reach back quite so far for an extended period of time. There weren't many choices available in my region when I bought this range. It was either this one or a GE cafe induction range. I'm sure there are more to choose from now, but I'm better with fewer choices, otherwise I'd never be able to make up my mind! Wait for the big sales if you can... stores sells these for $1000 - $1500 off the regular price, & I've seen these big appliance sales more than once each year.
