how long to keep my DW going

muscat

I would like to keep my old dishwasher going for now, unless that is a pennywise-pound foolish thing to do. Basically, there was no question that the other appliances get updated- they were horrible. But the DW works well. It is a Maytag "jetclean." It came with the house when I purchased 4 years ago, and I dont know how old it is. Eventually I'd like a SS model to match everything else, but it seems silly to me to replace it when it is fully functional. However, I'm wondering what I should expect as a dishwasher ages.......is there a tendancy for leaking to be the first problem? If so, I'm not risking my new floors and cabinets to a faulty DW. I hear stories of even new units leaking, so I know it could happen with any DW, but I just dont know what usually goes wrong first with DWs. Thoughts? And how old is "old" in DW years? thanks!
