I purchased a Stanley bedroom set from Lauter's last October. When the furniture was ready for delivery they stored it for me until I moved into my new home in March. Their price was better than Furnitureland South and there was no delivery charge because I'm in NJ. The delivery crew was very nice and it's been a pleasure dealing with Jeff at Lauter's. I would use them again.

All of the things you say about them are true. However, the sectional sofa I bought from them is very uncomfortable. The seat cushions are thin and rock-hard. When I complained, their only solution was for me to spend MORE money on replacement cushions. They did give me some free fabric to use in new cushions I could bet made locally, but this all ended up costing a ridiculous amount of money. I could have bought a better sofa for half the price at Pottery Barn.

We bought a sofa on Chairish with almost great success. I corresponded with the buyer who was very nice and mailed a fabric swatch so we'd have it, which has been helpful. It did take the shipper a good while to pick up the sofa in NY and then ship it to the west coast, and it appeared to be wrapped well. I pulled back the plastic to look at the upholstery before signing off on the "ok," and it looked fine, but I didn't look at the casters on the front legs, and they'd gotten bent in shipping (the seller said she'd told them to be careful). I was very worried that the legs themselves were damaged and that we'd have trouble finding new casters that fit, but the manufacturer (George Smith) mailed new ones free of charge, our remodeling contractor's carpenter got the bent one off and extracted the snapped off stump of the other one easily, put on the new ones, and it's been great ever since. I hadn't considered the question of loss between the time you pay and the time it's in the shipper's hands, and, also, shippers are notoriously free of responsibility for damage (absent a specific agreement, I think they pay a ridiculous per-pound amount). I guess it all comes down to one's risk tolerance level.

We waited about 8 months for our Ravine Home sectional. I am extremely disappointed with it. We specifically selected their performance fabric after telling our designer that we have a large dog that sleeps on our couches. We have kept the section that our dog lays on covered with a blanket at all times but the fabric under is already looking worn and tired in less than a year. The spot where my husband usually sits looks even worse. The sectional looks nice but I don’t recommend it if you actually plan to use it.
