Wow, all I can say is this won't be in my house in my lifetime. It maybe technologically the worlds greatest home theatre, but it's ugly and a waste of space LOL. thanks for posting

I recently called on a company that installs high end home theaters and it was amazing! Not quite this quality, but it was still amazing to see what can be done.

I don't think I'll ever see this in my house either, but I think it you can afford the theatre, you'll have the space in your house for it!

Just think of all the money we could save on movie tickets!! It would only take about 700,000 movies to get it paid off :)

kabergs, even if you have the money, you also have to have the desire. I just don't watch enough TV or movies and they just are important enough to me to bother with something like this. I'd rather devote the space to an indoor ice skating rink (my dream as a child, I know, nuts).

I would be really afraid of all those speakers! Can you imagine how loud that would be???? Seeing a movie at the theater is bad enough!

Not my style either, however I think many of the things we all have could be considered a waste of money. Really, how much of what we own do we really need? Maybe this owner is spending their excess cash in proportion to their paycheck like we all do. Just a thought!

OMG, that would be like having Best Buy take over a room in your home. I am not even going to consider what the person could have spent their money on instead - their choice. I just find it ugly - and as others have mentioned, the sound level would make me miserable. I can barely stand to go to the movies sometimes because of the loud volume in the theater.

Don't equate it with loud, equate it with polyphonic sound. A way to accurately replicate the sounds of objects recorded. Listening to birds, instruments and songs as if they were in the room. Over the top, but the man who owns the room above is in the industry and obviously loves it. chek out the humdred of LP's in the book cases on the walls!

I'd like to see his kitchen personally!

My husband works with a man who spent $250,000 on a home theater that looks like Star Trek. Sure, not what I'd spend $250K on, but living vicariously for a bit doesn't hurt.

Skypathway, it would be wasted on our limited viewings of Fox News and Iron Chef as well. I still think it would be really really cool for an occasional movie. Of course, you'd never be able to get rid of the neighbors, LOL! An ice rink would be run too! Me, I"d take the indoor pool.

You know, while I think that home theater is a little too testosterone-y for my tastes, the kitchen in Ratatouille... I like-y!

In my last home I had a 10' diagonal screen and an overhead projector. It was something my son got a deal on second-hand in the Microsoft news (he works there and so do some very rich people). The room we had it in was nothing fabulous, but it was big. We had a pair of recliners in the front row and an elevated couch in the back row. We had some fun times in that theater.

I really enjoy seeing the pics of home theaters. My son and I each have one but we haven't decorated them. No big bucks here, but big ideas are always good.

Chicory, I loved Ratatouille! I was too old for my kids but I watched its entirety after they went to bed.

Speaking of kitchen's to die for, did you see this months Food and Wine? They showed a Chicago Lawyer's dream kitchen with every (EVERY) upscale type of appliance you could think of, including a Salamander and a thermal circulator. It was amazing, a playground!!!

dgmarie, that slipperybrick site was great! Very creative. Loved this bit from the description of the Enterprise theatre; "Even a red alert button that starts red flashing lights and tense music."

That's what I need in real life; a red alert button and background music.
Here's a picture of my home theatre, or rather, what I hope it will look like when it's done. I'm working on a cabinet for television and vcr/dvd player to look like the Hornbeck Theatre in Shawnee, Oklahoma. My Dad worked there as a teenager over 60 years ago, back when the ushers carried flashlights and escorted you to your seat. These days, it plays the dollar movie; the ones that everyone else has already seen, their last showing on a big screen before you can find it at the rental store. Our family has many happy memories of "going to the show" tied up with that building.

LOL!! Hey, I think it's pretty cool! DH would love to play his Xbox in there for sure---I would never see him again!

The setup is pretty unattractive to me - doesn't look like the kind of place I could kick back and relax for a few hours with friends. But regardless, most of the equipment is from US manufacturers. So I'd suggest that his $6M investment in high-end audio probably did more for the US economy than $6M spent at Walmart on cheap foreign-made products.
