Who is an onion eater?

I just love onions!

Usually when I dine out, expecially cafeteria style, they always have onion slices at end of line, get a slice for my meat.

Today had hamburger steak and cut up little pieces of onion to have with each bite of steak.

Yesterday, pork chops and a slice of onion.

I love grilled onions, just an onion lover, here!

Am I alone?

Love,love,love onions.
I can saute a pile of onions in butter and just eat them as they are.Love them raw,cooked and any way I can think of.My youngest son will not eat onions at all,so while he was here for a visit I tried cooking with onion powder etc,but it just wasn't the same.

We love onions. Fresh or sauteed and lots in whatever I am cooking. Red, white, yellow or green. Love them all.

Kevin is right. It's the small braconid wasp, Cotesia congregatus. I observed the same thing in my pepper garden last weekend. Here's some information I found online: Larvae that hatch from wasp eggs laid on the hornworm feed on the inside of the hornworm until the wasp is ready to pupate. The cocoons appear as white projections protruding from the hornworms body (see photo, left). If such projections are observed, the hornworms should be left in the garden to conserve the beneficial parasitoids. The wasps will kill the hornworms when they emerge from the cocoons and will seek out other hornworms to parasitize. Alex

I was not a picky eater as a child, but now I am. I don't like certain textures, things like Jello will make me fight to swallow instead of gag. Neither of my kids were very picky, but Ashley liked (and still likes) more sweet stuff and processed food than her sister. She'd do things like sit down with a can of cream of mushroom soup and eat it right out of the can. She still prefers white bread and would be as happy living on fast food as she would be with filet. My granddaughter first ate everything, then became very picky, now she's becoming more adventurous again. I told her to try new things, if she didn't like it she could spit it out, she didn't even have to swallow. That got a lot of new foods into her mouth and she liked some of them. She just wanted to know that she had the option, I guess. She is also funny about texture, even when she was a baby things like pudding and mashed potatoes would make her gag. She still won't eat mashed potatoes. My grandson is an eating machine. He'll eat anything except green beans, he hates those. His problem is that he will eat until he gets sick, if it's one of his favorites. So what to feed picky eaters? I'd start with what they like, and try to branch out. He likes chicken? How about some BBQ sauce? I ground Doritos in the food processor and made chicken nuggets, those Doritos became seasoned bread crumbs. He likes pasta? What does he like on it? If it's plain, could you get away with some cheese? That cheese could eventually include some seasonings, maybe some bacon. I never met a kid who didn't like bacon, for some reason. Many kids like things they can dunk. My granddaughter still won't dunk a french fry in catsup, she hates sauces. My grandson dunks everything in catsup, BBQ sauce or ranch dressing. I think it depends on the child. I wouldn't fight over it, but if you can ease some new things into his diet, he might not even notice. Or, you might get lucky like I did on Halloween. I made some butternut squash bread, which both the grandkids love. There was some squash left over. Amanda came in, added some butter and brown sugar and heated it in the microwave, then ate a bowl of it. Bud suspiciously eyed what was left and asked me what it was. I told him that it was so good that his mother didn't share it, she was being selfish. He took me very seriously and quietly finished off the bowl, then told his mother that he'd eaten the rest of "her" squash. She told him that was OK, she'd make more for HERSELF tomorrow. SO and I actually enjoy healthy food more than unhealthy, that's one reason we are together, we have a similar palette! If it's healthy and tasty, it makes us happy. Maybe loaded potato skins would be good, since dad loves them. Or loaded sweet potatoes, which I just saw a recipe for the other day. Dad loves sweet potatoes too. I could make ones stuffed with marshmallows and sugar for dad (the way he likes sweet potatoes, and some veggies for SO and I, like maybe broccoli with chicken and spicy peanut sauce, since SO loves broccoli). As far as "fun," everyone included loves guacamole and also squash, but I agree that it can't be the main feature. I didn't know chicken wings came boneless, that would be good. SO would love some spicy wings to go with that assortment!

I've got a lacto-ovo, a vegan, two flexible ones that like everything, and a meat lover in my house. Here's one for breakfast, or breakfast for dinner: Apologies in advance because a lot of my recipes are made up and I don't have measurements. That's how I roll on a lot of stuff. I'll post a list of what I've been making lately. Let me know which you'd like the whole recipe for. Vegan tofu scramble with assorted veggies See variations for Lacto-Ovo changes Basic tofu scramble: Drain, press and chop a package of medium-hard tofu (or other hardness as desired). Chop some vegan breakfast sausage (optional). Heat a small amount of vegan butter, olive oil or veggie oil in a pan over medium-high heat. Sauté onions until translucent, about 5 minutes. Add all your other chosen veggies. (see “Variations”). Add chopped tofu. Add chopped vegan breakfast sausage if using. Sprinkle with salt and pepper to taste. Cook until tofu is slightly browned and veggies are soft. Serve with toast or wrap in a tortilla for a breakfast taco. Note: For Lacto-Ovo Variations, add cheese of your choice. Variations: Make it Italian: Veggies: onions, garlic. Add: a pinch of red pepper flakes and Italian spice mix or dried oregano. At end: fresh chopped parsley and a sprinkle of parmesan cheese. Make it French: Veggies: shallot, garlic, mushrooms, tomatoes. Add: a pinch of dried basil and fresh chopped marjoram. At end: fresh chopped parsley. Make it Greek: Veggies: onions, garlic, tomatoes. Add: a pinch of dried basil. At end: fresh chopped parsley and crumbled feta cheese. Make is Mexican: Veggies: onions, garlic, sweet peppers, serrano pepper, seeded and chopped. Add: a small amount of cumin and Emeril’s Blend spice mix (get recipe online, mix it up at home and use it on all things Cajun or Mexican). Serve with lime wedges, Chilula hot sauce, avocado slices, shredded cotija cheese and tortillas. Make it Indian: Veggies: onions, garlic. Add: red or green curry paste. Make it Asian: Veggies: onions, garlic, shredded carrot. Add: Spicy or mild Kim Chi. Serve with rice. Make is Milanese: Veggies: onions, garlic, green peppers. At end: fresh chopped parsley. Make it Californian: Veggies: onions, sweet peppers, mushrooms, tomatoes. At end: fresh chopped parsley. Serve with avocado slices.

We go through ALOT of onions here! There are onions in just about everything I make. Dean was raised this way. I on the other hand, had a father that 'hated' onions...except onion rings. It was hard for me to get used to.....now, with just about every grocery trip, we get onions. Deans favorite meal when he would go to his parents house was onion stew. I never made it while they were alive, but I may try in the next year or so now.

Deans son lived with us for a while. I asked if there was any food that he really disliked...onions was his answer!!! I told him that he would learn to like them! I told him he didn't have to eat them raw, but they were cooked in things.

I love onion in any way, shape or form. A big slice of a nice Vadalia, slice of cheese and mayo on bread is a fine sandwich! I also like those little pearl onions in a stew or soup. Red onion in my salads, chopped onion on chili and nachos, and dh has to have big chucks of raw sweet onion with a bowl of ham & beans and cornbread. Mmmmmmm....

I put onions in most everything...and DH picks them out. He likes cooked onions, but not raw.

I too like onions and I use them in a lof of my cooking or I will use the spice chopped onion.
I can/will eat a whole 'bloomin onion' all myself for a meal at a Outback Restuarant along with
a salad with more onions!

When I was little, I ate them like an apple- I would do anything my Grandaddy asked me to and he loved them.

Do not eat them raw very often now but I will put them in cooked dishes.

I prefer Maui onions eaten fresh on the Island of Maui!
They are particularly good with toasted w/w bread with peanut butter topped with a thick slice of Maui onion, sprinkled with pepper.

I love onions!! Can't think of any way I wouldn't love them.

Thanks for mentioning onions. It remined me I need to put onions on my shopping list. I only have ONE onion in the pantry.

I love onions, especially grilled or sauteed until they are very brown or sliced thin and made into fried onion rings. I make them for a snack sometimes. I do them several ways, but an easy way to make wonderful onion rings is to dip them in equal parts beer and flour. They are very light and crunchy.

I love onions too. My favorite way to eat hamburger isn't a patty, just loose meat fried and drained, lots of chopped onion, a chopped tomato, salt, and mayo. I mix it all up and call it a burger salad. A thick slice of onion is always part of my BLT. And I love Vidalias sliced thick and sprinkled with salt.

My grandmother made some kind of poltice using onions.
I remember my brother getting sick...a cold was accepted, but the school didn't want you to attend if you had the flu.
She had him bite into a large-strong onion...he couldn't taste it, she encouraged him to keep eating...and declared he had the flu.
I don't know why I stopped years ago, frying onions in butter...they were so good with cornbread...

Well....I never "cut the onions".

Have you all ever had wild onions and eggs? omigosh....soooo good. I have some native american girls that work for me...and they go dig fresh wild onions every year and give me some. CAnt wait till spring!

Glenda I have been an onion lover ever since I was a little kid - I used to eat them like I would an apple. I use onions almost every day and keep them on hand at all times - there's nothing worse than running out of onions!
If you ever come to Boston I will treat you to my French Onion Soup - made totally from scratch!

I've eaten raw onions only twice in my life. Both times thaey made me quite sick. But I love cooked onions, onion rings, spaghetti sauce made with lots of onions.

I love onions - all kinds in everything. DD hates them & will pick them out no matter how well they're "hidden". DS won't eat raw onions but likes them cooked & DH is just like me - loves 'em.

I love every kind of onion out there, raw or cooked. I can't imagine food without them. DS is not wild about them. He will eat them cooked in things but definitely not raw. I also love French Onion soup. I could eat it every day.
