Would you paint your baseboards and not your window/door trim?

As I've mentioned before, I hate my orangey-yellowy light stained trim in my house. However, I've been doing my best to embrace it. Now I'm thinking maybe I would be happy to just paint my baseboards but leave the trim around the windows and doors stained. I may even attempt to darken that stain to give a more sophisticated look.

Is this a crazy idea? I think the stained trim running around the base of the room chops it up. If I paint it, I might even get up the gumption to add painted crown molding. Thoughts?

Oh, here's another question... If you DID paint it, would you paint it white or some other color? The wall color perhaps?
