It's been a few years, but I seem to recall an example of a recycled glass counter material of some type at a big box store in our area. You might want to just call the biggies and ask. We seriously considered Enviroglas but went with stone.

We considered them for our new homes. In fact, it was one of the first things I researched. They are really pretty, and we love the green aspect of them. There are several manufacturers, like Vetrazzo Enviroglass, and Icestone. But, since they are cement + recycled glass, they need to be babied quite a bit: resealed every 6 -12 months, standing liquids (coffee, tea, wine, lemon juice, etc.) can seep and stain. That just doesn't work for your family. If you still want the look of recycled glass, but not the high maintenance of cement, look at quartz. Lots of quartz options have recycled glass in it. Much more durable and doesn't need all the resealing. You can find any of the major fabricators anywhere you'd find granite. Despite the marketing, all the brands are made in the same way, so find a color or style you like, and buy the least expensive one. We're going with Hanstone Specchio White (it's fabricated near Toronto, which is closer to us that Cambria in Minnesota). It is white resin with green and silver recycled class. Well, oasisowner, you have managed to stir up a lot of off-topic discussion about composite granite sinks, which obviously does nothing to answer your question. We have installed Karran sinks for about 10 years, and have had absolutely no problems with them. Of course, a lot depends on the installer, and we are fortunate enough to have a good one. Because the stainless Karran sinks are so new, there is no long term data on their durability, but so far every one we have installed is still in perfect condition. The advantages of the sink are that it is relatively inexpensive and can be installed in an inexpensive laminate countertop. The disadvantage is that if it ever does fail, you can't replace just the sink, you have to replace the whole countertop. So make sure whoever installs it for you (this is not a DIY project) has considerable experience with the product. Here is a picture of the first Karran composite sink we ever installed. Still going strong. No chips, no stains, no delamination. The finish has dulled a bit, but this particular homeowner likes her scouring powder, which is specifically NOT recommended to clean this sink. Use Barkeeper's Friend, if you use anything. Bottom line: I don't think you will be disappointed in the product. Good luck with your project.

Particulate popping is common in many countertops, but particularly known in products like this and Vetrazzo. Most happen during fabrication. Repairs are fairly straightforward and inconspicuous. I wouldn't worry about it. My buddy Gene does a fair amount of that stuff and is known to travel a ways.
