I think to get what you really want you should check out Esty for some hand crafted vintage look. You want ones with a lot of white to keep the kitchen light and fresh. Something with a simple classic design and not too kitchy or themey.

I would not do identical curtains in both the kitchen and dining room. The dining room even though it is open to the kitchen should have something a tad more sophisticated. Since the window in the DR is lower this should be easier to pull off.

Maybe kitchen curtains with a classic cherry print and white with red polka dots in the DR. Or ones with just rickrack in three colors in the DR.

would be a great opportunity (to buy a gun) oh wait nevermind, I mean...Not knowing what your specific style or taste is, here are a few that caught my eye that if they were not too busy for you, would really add a nice splash of coordinating color to the rooms.

Zipdee, since you're one of the few people here who decorate vintage like I do, is it possible you can show more pictures of your house? :)

I've found a lot of vintage curtains over the past year looking for tablecloths and such, do a google search on Vintage curtains. And Ebay is another where I bet you can find some really cute ones.

I haven't bought curtains yet for my "new" kitchen and DR, but for now I have the "vintage" look roller blinds. And let me tell you, they are GREAT. I don't even know if I'll cover them. lol. You really need something to block the whole window, not just the bottom part since you're home alone. I'm sure the neighbor is probably nice, but it kind of freaked me out when he confessed to your dh that he watches you in the kitchen.

I have inexpensive roller shades (they cut it perfectly!) with scalloped trim and a tiny bit of lace on them. I'll get curtains eventually but I need to wait until my youngest cat is out of the kitty stage.

Dilly .. I love that cherry print! Something vintage inspired would work really well in there. Now, for the eating area are you suggesting full top to bottom curtains of a coordinating print.

Oakleyok .. I love the vintage looking roller shades you're suggesting, I'll be using those under my living room treatments when I get there. Since the house next door is lower than our house, as long as the bottom of the windows are covered, you will not be able to see in. I tried to make light of it with my DH saying the guy was probably more interested in what I was cooking than in me .. he wasn't seeing it that way though. It is a bit off, I just turned 40 three days ago, this guy is in his mid 20's. Also I have three daughters the oldest is 14, but is mature looking for her age. So any way you cut it, I don't want him looking in any more.

I have a bunch to get caught up with around here from the weekend and making costumes for my DD's play .. but I promise I'll post some more pics for you tonight or tomorrow. :)

zipdee, like Rhonda mentioned I'd think about a weapon of some sort. At least let it slip that you are an excellent marksman and have hunted wild game since the age of three.

As for curtains I'd look for some vintage table linens or dish towels and make the tiers from them.

Zipdee, I love your kitchen!!! I would use a simple white linen, with a band of green trim at the bottom. Think vintage dish towels. You might even find some vintage towels on line, like these:

I am thinking Amy Butler or Cath Kidston. If you can sew them yourself, you can afford to do something a bit wild and then switch them out if you need a change.

Why not do them in a pretty gingham? Red maybe or yellow.

Country living has a slideshow showing some window treatments with some of them being vintage inspired. Check out the 9th photo where the kitchen is in your colors. It looks like they may have used vintage linen towels for the windows. Country living often has vintage looks featured not just "country".

Or you could whip up an original at Spoonflower which isn't as hard as it sounds.

Your kitchen is so great!!! I love the first one posted by jejvtr - that seems perfect, or as someone else posted, white with a band, or vintage tea towels. I'd keep it simple, maybe a tension rod across the middle of each window.

I love the idea of dishtowel fabric. I like the waffle weave in white and then bind them with a stripe of your lovely green.

Okay .. now don't hate me .. I found a deal I could not pass up. Hiding head in shame .. this should read confessions of a thrift-store-aholic.

I had to run to goodwill today, I'm helping make costumes for the play the girls are in .. taking a break fro re-work costume stuff to post this. While I was there searching out costume material .. I had to take a cruise around the store. ;) I found four sets of just plain white cafe curtains, $1 a panel! Window treatments do not come any cheaper than that .. so I snatched them up. My thoughts are I could embellish them to make them more 'vintage' looking at this point .. think pom-pom fringe or ric rack or ribbon or a combo .. something. I didn't have a chance to grab rods, since I had an awards ceremony to go to at the school. I'll be grabbing rods ASAP though and I'll put up a pick when they are hung. Hopefully you all can give me some encouragement on embellishing them. Whoo -- hoo .. Gotta love $2 a window :)

zipdee - are you my long lost twin? That works even better. Putting trim on the white cafes will be so quick and easy to do. That will give you time to really search for THE perfect zipdee vintage curtain fabric- maybe even scoring enough vintage fabric to make them!
