Stairrunner color question?

Hi,

My house is painted RH Latte (living room and sunroom). If you are unfamiliar with the color, it's BM Crisp Khaki or similar to Believable Buff. Foyer, downstairs and upstairs hallway are all one up called Cappuccino (the name says it all). Kitchen is Butter by RH and Dining Room is Rasp. Truffle. The house is not open flow. The hall is pretty separate, archways and doorways separating it. I have been looking at runners with matching broadloom cause my husband misses the feel now that I ripped the hallway carpet up. It will still not be wall to wall, but as a runner. Everyone says to go as dark as possible. Should I pick somethilng with a black background or red? The fear of red, is what if I get sick of my red dining room down the road (which is entirely possible). Should I go with black since it's more neutral. Both of these will have alot ofthe Cappuccino color in them, so it's more of a backdrop for the Cappuccino color. I am lucky in that most runners have the color in them. For example see link below. This is not what I am getting, but just an example. Thanks. The guy is coming on Sat. with my samples. Oh yeah, it will continue as a hallway runner upstairs and onto the third floor.
