Organizing the Home

Giving away...getting easy with giving away!

So happy to see that this is true! It is giving me such pleasure to have alittle room in my closets and to organize what I actually use. I want to keep emptying and emptying! Truthfully, I never expected to feel so good about it!

I'm at the "maintenance" stage of decluttering, and I keep a permanent box, just for "give aways", to add to as I find and then donate when it's full. As i go about tidying or cleaning, I find myself actively looking for things to put in there, and get a little thrill every time I do.

Yes, it does feel good to go through stuff and get rid of things. I am not much of a saver but when I get in the mood things start leaving the house.

Still need to do that in the garage.

In my current home and my first home when I moved to Texas were both overgrown, disheveled, weedy jungles. Needless to say I didn't feel to bad about going with the nuclear option on those yards and starting over. I think what's even more sad though is when your garden becomes neglected. That's what's happened with my first house here. I put my heart and soul into re-doing that yard for the better part of the three years I was there. I was by there a few months ago and it was hard to look at. Everything's overgrown and weeds popping up everywhere. I talked to some of my old neighbors and they said the front is nothing compared to the back. I guess some people just don't care. When it turns over again, those people will probably have to start from scratch just like I did. A real shame. :^(

One time I put an ad for rabbits on Craigslist because we had an unexpected litter. This guy showed up w his wife and daughter and picked up a few baby bunnies. He turned out to be a total perv. He kept calling and texting for like 3mos afterwards and wanting to come over. I didnt answer after the first time he called inappropriately but that didnt stop him from leaving messages and texting. I am never using CL again after that. I had to change my # and I hate that he knows where I live. I cant blame anyone for taking precautions nowdays. You never know.

I think my DH might be a hoarder because he keeps everything and continues buying and never has a desire to go through and clean out. I on the other hand don't hesitate to remove things I'm not using. He is letting me clean his closet and I've already removed 7 bags. There's so much stuff he has accumulated it will take time to sort it all out and reconfigure his whole closet but I'm very happy that he's letting me do this. This part of the house has been like a black hole to me and now I'm going in there to shine some light on it and cleaning is the greatest feeling and then I'm going to paint it, too.
