What kitchen gadgets do you have...and do you use them?
Comments (21)Whelp I got the project mostly done. I need better latches on the upper cabinet doors as the cat Abby has decided I put that there for her to open doors and climb up into. GGGGRRRRRR Both pieces were on wheels !!!! All furniture should be on wheels. LOL The old stuff has come from all over. I remember the hooser came from a liquor store in Challis. Just some thing they were selling on the side. Most of my stuff really is just junk. Yard sale stuff thrift store. I still need to fine tune things in studio and kitchen but already Hoosier is great where it is and the ability to easily get to the appliances is a big help. Not that getting them from a shelf below cabinet is all that hard. For me now it is. sigh. Good news is my hands are getting better. This has been pretty miserable. I am going to jazz up the hoosier a little bit. I am not at all concerned to devalue it as it is not a good one. Crappy wood not pretty oak. Painted and all. Then I will get a picture. Adding fru fru to the top is out of the question Again Abby has her own opinion on what belongs up there and has cleared it twice already of what she does not like. This dang cat is more like an Orangutan than a sweet little kitty....See MoreWhat Tall Small Appliances Do You Have?
Comments (11)Right now (pre-reno), I have 3 tall small appliances: blender, food processor, and KA stand mixer (brand new). Blender and FP are stored in cab with base next to top. KA mixer will have to stay on counter, but will be at end of sink run where there are no uppers. I'm hoping to have room in my pantry to store the mixer once we reno. I have 2 other small appliances that I use a lot that more more bulky than tall--a large crock pot and an electric pressure cooker. Those are stored in a lower cab that used to have a pull out shelf. The pull out shelf broke so I removed it and the tracks. Since there's no upper shelf, it's easier to get to there bulky appliances. My current plan is to store these appliances in a new run of cabs that will replace the half wall between the kitchen eating area and the FR which is 2 steps down. Hmmm, maybe that's where I should store the mixer, too....See MoreDo you unplug your small appliances?
Comments (65)We look like huge electric hogs compared to our neighbors. Majority of homes here use gas to heat, cook, and for hot water. We have an all electric house so the chart has our electric use way above our neighbors. bleusblue2 ya sure it probably a waste of energy, but it can't be that much of a waste for it to only equal $1.95 a year. Sure we all like lower electric bills, but I am not crawling behind furniture to unplug phone chargers every time i'm not using them. We don't have tiers in electric rates here, brown outs or black outs from electric usage. Coal that is used to generate the electric is a natural resource here. Along with natural gas and plenty of water....See MoreWhat do you think of Ninja kitchen appliances?
Comments (15)Thanks so much for all the responses--you've convinced me! When I headed for bed last night, Amazon's price was $79.99, and the $12 coupon they offered brought it down to $68. I wasn't quite ready to order at that point, and I wondered if I was risking the coupon disappearing in the morning. Well, by this morning the whole price had disappeared. They must have sold out, and now the lowest price from outside sellers is about $130. But last night I noticed the Ninja website had an upgraded model, the Advanced. It comes with three disks instead of one, and something to store them in. I was tempted at the time because I wanted more shredding/grating/slicing options, but wasn't sure I wanted to pay that much more for them. Today, the game had changed, and Ninja was still offering its 15% off Cyber Monday coupon, bringing the price to $110. Still a good price for a food processor. So I bought it. Thanks again!...See Morelobsterbird
