Ordered replacement refrigerator filter online

Others have probably figured this out, but I thought I would pass on that I recently bought a replacement water filter for my Samsung FD online. I kept forgetting to pick one up at one of the big box stores, or they were out of stock. Amazon was less expensive, no tax, and free ship.

morton5 - Thanks for the tip ! it has happened to me too .. only when I get back home from mall, that I remember that I forgot to get the filter .. AGAIN ! so your tip is really going to help :-)

Me too. I actually just bought a dozen so I wouldn't have to worry about it for a while. I LOVE on-line shopping!

Ohhhh I like those Ebay prices :-). That was what got me to wondering... I've been quoted $500-650 locally and I've seen even more on some online stores, but I was finding them for $50/each on Ebay (for ~$200 total!) but I'm hesitant about buying from the "unknown". It's incredulous how the prices vary on this stuff and what some places make off their markup! Thanks - we might have a winner!

I can't suggest any of what you asked but have an alternative idea for you that I am using. Install a full size filter in a cabinet above / beside the fridge and hook the fridge up to that. My concerns about the fridge filters are the size, level and price. The one that comes with my fridge can block 5 or large micron particles, removes some bio contaminants and has to replaced every 3 months at $35 a piece. The replacement can last up to a year, costs $32 for a replacement, can remove 1 micron or larger particles and removes most bio contaminants. It has been about a year since we looked at the alternatives but I just don't fridge filters are practical. I see them more as a reoccuring money stream for the fridge makers.

I just got mine from amazon too! Wow, lowspark. My filters last over a year....so your set for a very long time.

I also ordered mine (for GE Profile) from Amazon. They seem to have everything these days! I now go to Amazon b/f anywhere else and use their prices for comparisons...they usually have the lowest prices. Volume, I guess.

I too order them a dozen at a time. Some websites give cheaper price for a dozen, and free shipping. Also, I agree with Lowspark that I don't want to have to think about ordering them for a while.

Yeah, positano, well, when we remodeled the kitchen I had two growing boys at home and we went through a filter every three months. Since then they have both scooted off to college and aren't at home anymore. So, yeah, NOW our filters seem to last FOREVER! LOL. I don't really know how long they last now, probably somewhere in the neighborhood of 9-10 months. But we made a dent in our supply before those boys left home.
